Thank you to everyone who donated to the CIJ @BigGive #EarthRaise campaign. With your help we raised just over £8,000: £2,500 more than initially asked. This will enable us to give Climate Investigations training to 7 journalists, instead of the planned 5. We are now coordinating with seven of the applicants on the waiting list from our previous call for application to offer them places on this course starting in September. Your donations will make a real difference both to the journalists who get the training and to the communities they serve. Thank you!

Big Give Update! With huge thanks to all our donors, we've now raised enough to fund a further scholarship place on the investigations course, helping another journalist from Latin America, Africa or South Asia to go further and investigate those profiting from the climate crisis! Thank you! But we now have just 1 hour left to maximise this opportunity and unlock the @BigGive Trust's generous extended match funding. All donations made here are doubled until midday UK time - donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS… Just £132 more in donations will get our total to £7,400 - enough to pay for another Scholarship. A total of £8,350 will be enough for 8 Scholarships overall. To pay for 10 scholarships we need just £10,250. And if we can get the full matched amount, we'll be able to give an amazing 20 journalists the chance to bolster their skills and increase their impact! So please dig deep in these last hour - the journalists and the communities they report for will hugely appreciate it. Thank you!

We may be able to train more than 5 journalists from Latin America, Africa or South Asia in climate investigations! Our first ever public fundraising campaign has been very successful: we managed to secure 100% of the funding needed to train 5 journalists. Thank you to everyone who donated! Normally once the organisation reaches its target, everything above it is not doubled, BUT last Friday we received some great news from our partners @BigGive. All the donations above the target will still get matched funding! So every £1 you give till this Wed 29 April will become £2! (Up to a whopping £20000 - now that would train A LOT of journalists). Donate here - donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS… Why now? Our Climate Investigations Course was designed on the back of the very successful three years of CIJ's OCRI programme: where we trained hundreds of journalists all over the world in climate investigations. In 2025 we launched a scholarship for journalists from Latin America, Africa or South Asia to take the course. Currently 10 scholars are taking the course, but the quality of applications was so high - we could have filled the spaces three times over! Hence the launch of CIJ Big Give Earth Raise campaign. More journalists need to be able to explain not just what is happening with our climate and how, but also why. It is especially important today, when climate action is under threat. Every £1 counts - only 48 hours left to donate! Let's see if 5 scholars can become 6 or (dare we hope?) 20! #EarthRaise

Do a good deed this week and support the CIJ @BigGive #EarthRaise campaign - donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS… The money raised will fund Climate Investigations scholarships for journalists from Latin America, Africa and South Asia. Our Climate Investigations course is a result of three years of training all over the world and empowers journalists to report not just what is happening with our climate and how – but also why. Because we have partnered with @BigGive, every £1 you donate will be doubled. Double your impact. Only till Wed 29 April 2026.

Donate to the CIJ via @BigGive #EarthRaise Campaign today and help us train journalists at the forefront of the climate crisis. 🚨 Link ⬇️⬇️⬇️ donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS… 🗓️ For one week only: Wed 22 April to Wed 29 April all your donations will be doubled!! 🟢 Why do it? We make journalists better investigators and help them to tell stories that make a real difference. Thanks to the investigations published by the journalists we trained: ✅Hundreds of Nepalese schoolchildren's lives were protected from climate-induced landslides ✅$15B of renewable energy funding which went missing in Lesotho was uncovered ✅Protections for Cameroonian mangrove forests were reinforced 🟢Why now? In 2026 we offered 10 scholarships to journalists from Latin America, Africa or South Asia to take our Climate Investigations Course. They are half way through the programme now. The quality of applicants was so high, we could have offered three times as many places, but... we didn't have enough funding. So this will help us train five more excellent journalists in climate investigations. Here is what the current scholars say: “I joined the course to better understand climate issues in Sierra Leone and across Africa, and it is already changing the way I approach climate journalism.” Patricia Sia Ngevao ( @ngevao_sia ) , Sierra Leone, 2026 Scholar. “The course is halfway through, but my understanding of climate investigative journalism has already started improving significantly." Yash Sadhak Shrivastava ( @yashshrivastava ), India, 2026 Scholar. donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS… 🙏 Please donate generously. 🔁 And share with others.
