We’re hearing news that Cineworld staff at Glasgow Science Centre have found out their workplace will not be reopening via Twitter, leaving them unsure of whether or not they will have a job to return to. This information should have been communicated to staff directly.

Did you take redundancy or leave Cineworld last year when faced with a decision between that or unpaid leave? We’re looking to get folk together and push for you to be reinstated into your job. If you’re in this position and you wanted to return to your job, please DM us!

In October, many of us were faced with a decision between unpaid leave or redundancy, and in an attempt to secure income, many staff reluctantly left the company. We continue to call on Cineworld to reinstate these staff members.

Cineworld is hiring new staff while denying former loyal staff members the opportunity to reapply for their jobs. They were denied the opportunity to be reinstated when the furlough scheme was extended and many former staff members continue to struggle financially.

Last year Cineworld/Picturehouse gave their staff a terrible choice between unpaid leave or redundancy & just 3 days to decide. Ahead of cinemas reopening in May, I've asked the CEO to offer redundant staff at the Ritzy, East Dulwich & West Norwood Picturehouses their jobs back

@MartyDepolo Hi Marty, it’s quite difficult to say at this point - we’d advise potentially waiting for confirmation of a return to work. Is the notice period for your 2nd job a month in your contract? Thanks!

@cineactiongroup With the aim of mid month (but not 100% concrete), would it be advisable for those who has a 2nd job to hand in a months notice (next week) not knowing whether we are indeed reopening in May?

@rajhatesyou It is vital - as staff we should be told what the company’s plans are for reopening before the press.

Once again staff have found out vital information about the reopening of our cinemas via the media. We need the reopening of our cinemas to put workers first. We call on Cineworld to... ➡️ Pay the living wage ➡️ Recognise our union, @bectu ➡️ Prioritise staff safety

@cineactiongroup Gutted by how you’ve been treated. As an Unlimited member, Cineworld is nothing without it’s brilliant staff. I really hope they start engaging properly with you.

A year ago we formed in response to Cineworld’s decision to make many of us redundant as cinemas across the country closed. We grew from a small group of employees into a collective which covers all Cineworld and Picturehouse sites across the UK.
