Half of my family is English. It’s just a different atmosphere over there when the World Cup is going on even when it’s not in the location. I spent several summers during the World Cup with my family. It’s wild. If it wasn’t in America, people would just be going about their business.

I love watching World Cup fans from other countries show up here like it’s a national duty. Scotland, Mexico, England, Netherlands… they do not play about their teams. The chants, the flags, the outfits, the absolute commitment. It’s honestly so fun to watch. But America… tiny little reminder. The USA plays against Australia today at 3pm EST. 😝 I genuinely think 1% of the country knows this is happening, and that might be generous. We may not win “best fan base” yet, but we could at least try not to act like we found out after the game was over. Put it on. Cheer a little. Pretend we have some national soccer urgency for 90 minutes. We can do this. 🇺🇸⚽️

Another reason soccer is not popular here. Ties. They suck. In our country there is a winner and a loser. Why even have a game/match if no one wins?! And yes there are occasional ties in our NFL in the regular season and those suck as well.
