@RealRobertRM @ZelenskyyUa Is that the same advice you'd give to the people of Gaza? Or Iran? Just accept what the more powerful military demands since you'd lose lives fighting? Of all the stupid wars right now, at least Ukraine has the moral high ground of not having attacked its aggressor first.

It would be advisable to cease actions that are contributing to further loss of life in Ukraine and to begin preparing for free and fair elections. It is increasingly evident to the international community that a military victory is unlikely, and that a path toward enabling the Ukrainian people to live in peace should be pursued.

We are using our aviation today to counter massive drone attacks, primarily “shaheds”, “gerans” and others. We are intercepting them with everything we have. And Gripens, as part of Ukraine’s future Air Force, will also help counter the enemy’s aerial attacks. As for antiballistic defense, for now, apart from Patriots, we have no other tools. I really wanted the Ukrainian industry to receive licenses to produce PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot systems. I believe that in the future we will either obtain licenses or develop our own system. That is why I wrote a letter to President Trump and to the United States Congress. I believe they need to act faster. We keep stressing this point. Winter is ahead. Russia cannot yet be stopped by diplomacy. We are stopping it through our long-range sanctions. We are strongly asking our American partners to help us secure a greater number of PAC-3 missiles, or to grant Ukraine licenses so that we can produce them ourselves and also help other countries. From the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Sweden (1/2).

@given2tweet Yeah, even with Trump gone, I'm not sure how we get back to normal. I keep telling myself that we overcame the hate of the civil war and the robber barron era corruption, but the forces that allowed Trump to happen seem so entrenched.

@given2tweet What an absolutely depressing thought experiment. He once bragged he could shoot someone in public and get away with it. Unfortunately it looks like he wasn't wrong.

@Sanctuary_Bio My wife and I met in college and got married in our mid 20s. Both of us remark we're glad we don't have to date today. We avoided having kids while she was in grad school, but we're fortunate now that the number of kids we have isn't really an economic question.

@cjkb117 for sure. It's an ugly situation now as I understand it. Dating is shit from what I hear. And then even if you find a compatible partner the economics of having children are an obvious consideration. Not an easy puzzle to solve.

I'll probably regret this but f it My dad was cooking for his entire extended family of like 10 when he was 10 in China. His dad/uncles would give him some money, and he would go the market, buy raw ingredients, and cook for the entire family.

@Sanctuary_Bio Only pushback I'd make is that sometimes the sacrifice is in the future. You can have kids in 20s/30s not 50s/60s. We made sacrifices (incl my career)to get to the position we're in today, but we've given up some of the future luxury for kids.Building a family should be a priority

maybe it'll work out in the end, maybe it won't. That's life. No one ever said it was fair. Social media and the correlated want for immediate gratification has rotted so many young minds. That's not the way the world works. The sooner you realize this the better. Good luck.

@Sanctuary_Bio Yep, they're 7, 5, 2 (3 in July), and newborn. I'm dreading the teenage years, but ecstatic to have another. My wife didn't want to find out the sex, but with 3 girls already, I really just wanted another one. Keeps things simple.

@cjkb117 so if I'm interpreting your bio correctly you have 4 daughters now? I worked with someone a decade ago in the same situation. It'll be a handful😜

some of the comments over the last few days lol Maybe I should remind you that in this decade so far, in EVERY year the $XBI at one point has had a 20% drawdown. -8% now, this is even close to real pain. idk how people invest in biotech with such shit temperament.

@A_May_MD Luckily I don't own any of that! From your perspective, the sketchiest names I own in size are probably VKTX (funded for a while) and OCUL (which may have enough for needs).

@rocker_jdb Yikes, sounds like a crappy teacher. How has the school not reigned them in? I'm three for three so far for having my kids end up in speech therapy, so I have a special appreciation for those who help kids.

My wife is a speech path. Her new classroom next year has a teacher she can't work with (uses a whistle, yells at kids, etc.). Wants to look for a new gig—ugh. If AI isn't messing with your job, there are plenty of other human factors...

@Sanctuary_Bio Not complaining, just annoyed I've swung from nearly a 17% ytd gain 2 weeks ago to nearly 10% down for the year. I'm leveraged long, so these swings aren't surprising. Upside is I just welcomed my 4th daughter a week ago, so my portfolio is the least of my worries.

personally, I'm off about 9% since my peak last week, and I've made exactly 3 trades this month. And two of those were just dropping my smallest positions for the sake of consolidation, i.e. essentially meaningless to P&L. And the other trade was done early in the month.

@mtheory11bio My issue is the last two weeks I've stopped tracking the XBI despite 95% of my portfolio being biotech. BBIO, VKTX, NKTR, CRVS all down significantly more than XBI over the last two weeks.

@Sanctuary_Bio @Sports_bios My issue right now is bandwidth currently. Biotech is about all I can manage right now, and even there I'm not able to keep up as well as I should . Also, I see DRAM/chips exploding, but my history with these "super cycles" never ends well.

@Sports_bios I bring this up for fairly obvious reasons. Despite biotech being my bread and butter (and presumably yours if you are reading this), if you see an attractive trade in another industry/sector, you should take it.

One of the most important lessons I learned was from @Sports_bios back in 2022. Despite being a biotech legend he realized the energy sector had significant value. As such he ended up doing very well in one of the most challenging years not just for biotech but the market

@given2tweet I've watched you long enough to know these drawdowns hurt but you always seem to bounce back. I also realize I'm an internet rando and I get more out of this relationship than you do, but feel free to reach out any time. There's a bunch of us on Twitter who wish you well.

@MeadowCapital At the end of 2024, BBIO and VKTX were both nearly 50% Delta adjusted. I bragged to my wife that our VKTX position was larger than her employee stock account. BBIO was a massive winner, VKTX halved from there, and while we had to survive layoffs, she works for a semi company...

I've missed the whole kit and caboodle. $MU $IREN $SNDK etc.. When Im asked how I did during the AI boom of the 20s, my answer will be: I was stuck waiting for $VKTX to do something. My bet was on obesity when AI was taking off. That, folks, is why I'll never run a fund😅

@given2tweet Damn, that sucks. It's been a rough 2 weeks for me, esp with not reducing FWRD, but I think my 2 weeks don't even equal you this week. Good luck finding your footing and moving onward. You've been really kind to me over the years reminding what's important. Thanks for all you do.
