03.30.26. “Worthy Is the Lamb — Not Me, but Jesus” A friend said to me recently, “Pray I’m worthy. If I threw a party, I wouldn’t invite me.” There’s a quiet ache in those words — the kind many people carry but never speak aloud. And yet Scripture answers that ache with a truth stronger than our feelings: Only Jesus is worthy. Not me. Not you. Not anyone who ever walked this earth. “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain…” Rev 5:12  And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.” That’s the good news. Our worthiness was never the requirement — His worthiness is the gift. Palm Sunday reminds us that the crowds celebrated Jesus, but they didn’t understand Him. They thought worthiness came from power, position, or performance. But Jesus came in humility, riding a donkey, showing us that the only One truly worthy came to welcome the unworthy. So when someone says, “I wouldn’t invite me,” the gospel answers: Jesus would — and He already has. Not because we are worthy, but because He is. Reflection Do I measure myself by my failures, or by Christ’s finished work? → I choose to rest in what Jesus has already done, not in what I’ve failed to do. Am I trying to earn what Jesus has already given? → His grace is a gift — not a wage I can work for. How can I remind someone today that Jesus welcomes the ones who feel least worthy? → I’ll speak the truth gently: He alone is worthy — and He invites us anyway. Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You that You alone are worthy. When I feel unworthy, remind me that Your grace is greater than my shame. Help me welcome others the way You welcome me — with open arms, open mercy, and open love. Amen.
