Over one million people have been displaced in Lebanon in just a few weeks. Buildings destroyed. Lives lost. Lives in ruins. Children killed. Another refugee crisis unfolding. The Israeli government claim they are bombing Lebanon and annexing South Lebanon to remove terrorists. But the scale of destruction is completely inhumane. Same with Gaza. Imagine if the UK had bombed and displaced one million people in Ireland to remove IRA terrorists? This cannot be justified.

The funeral of Father Pierre El-Rahi, Maronite parish priest of a Christian village, is celebrated today in #Lebanon, as these villages once again experience the tragedy of war. I am close to all the Lebanese people in this time of grave trial. Fr. Pierre was a true shepherd. As soon as he heard that parishioners had been wounded in a bombing, he rushed to help without hesitation. May the Lord grant that the blood he shed become a seed of peace for beloved Lebanon. #PrayTogether

@LindseyGrahamSC Vote this fraud out of the senate. Can’t force countries to join a war they were not consulted on and agreed to it. They will do what is fit for their own interests

The American Embassy is being evacuated in Riyadh because of sustained attacks by Iran against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is my understanding the Kingdom refuses to use their capable military as a part of an effort to end the barbaric and terrorist Iranian regime who has terrorized the region and killed 7 Americans. Question – why should America do a defense agreement with a country like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is unwilling to join a fight of mutual interest? Americans are dying and the U.S. is spending billions to dislodge the terrorist Iranian regime that threatens the region. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia seems to be issuing statements and doing things in the background that are marginally helpful, but unwilling to participate in military operations to end the reign of terror coming out of Iran. Hopefully Gulf Cooperation Council countries will get more involved as this fight is in their backyard. If you are not willing to use your military now, when are you willing to use it? Hopefully this changes soon. If not, consequences will follow. nytimes.com/2026/03/08/wor…

As war escalates in southern Lebanon, Christian villages along the border are defying Israel’s evacuation orders and refusing to leave. Israel has ordered all residents south of the Litani River to evacuate. Ground troops have entered the area. At least 217 people have been killed since Monday. Over 300,000 have been displaced across Lebanon. The Christian villages of Alma al-Shaab, Rmeish, Ein Ebel, and Debel are inside this zone. When the order came, residents of Alma al-Shaab gathered at Our Lady’s Church and rang the bells in defiance. They chanted: “The bells of Alma will keep ringing.” Mayor Shadi Sayah told L’Orient Today: “We placed our faith in God and in our saints. We put our faith in Mar Elias, Mar Charbel, Jesus, and the Virgin Mary, and stayed.” Around 200 residents remain in the village. Resident Wissam Khoury explained why: “We knew that if we left, we would not be able to return later.” Father Toni Elias of Rmeish told Agenzia Fides: “We have no weapons, we have no missiles, we are no danger to anyone. We are staying here and asking God for his protection.” Rmeish is currently sheltering not only its own residents but families displaced from other villages and 250 Syrian refugees who had nowhere else to go. A delegation from these villages delivered their message to the Vatican’s apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Paolo Borgia: “We will not leave our land or our homes, regardless of the circumstances.” They also formally asked the Vatican to raise their case in Washington and European capitals, seeking guarantees that their towns would not be targeted. Pray for Lebanon.

Lebanon has always struck me as one of those rare places where warmth and resilience still shape everyday life. The Lebanese people I have met are remarkably generous, hardworking, and deeply proud of their culture. That is why the destruction unfolding there and being hidden by the media feels so tragic. Israel’s attacks have forced hundreds of thousands of Lebanese from their homes in the south and the suburbs of Beirut. Entire communities are uprooted overnight. Shops close. Families scatter. A country already struggling with political and economic crisis now carries yet another shock. But what makes this especially painful from a civilizational perspective is that Lebanon is one of the last places in the Middle East where multiple religious and cultural traditions still live side by side in a fragile balance. When war tears through such a society, it strains the delicate social fabric that has held together a diverse and historically rich nation for generations. Please pray for Lebanon.

For Lebanon we must act. Everything must be done to prevent this country, so close to France, from once again being drawn into war. The Lebanese have a right to peace and security—like everyone in the Middle East. It is to halt the war and prevent the worst that, following my exchanges with President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu, I spoke today with Lebanon’s highest authorities in order to establish a plan to bring an end to the military operations currently being carried out by Hezbollah and Israel on either side of the border. Hezbollah must immediately cease its fire toward Israel. Israel must refrain from any ground intervention or large-scale operation on Lebanese territory. The Lebanese authorities have given me their commitment to take control of the positions held by Hezbollah and to fully assume responsibility for security across the entire national territory. I give them my full support. France will strengthen its cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces and will provide them with armored transport vehicles, as well as operational and logistical support. The French detachment within the United Nations Force in Lebanon is also continuing its mission in the south of the country. Concerned about the displacement of tens of thousands of Lebanese civilians currently fleeing the south, I have decided on the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid for them. Several tons of medicines are being transported, along with shelter solutions and assistance. This is a testament to the friendship the French feel toward the Lebanese. At this moment of great danger, I call on the Israeli Prime Minister not to expand the war to Lebanon. I call on Iranian leaders not to further draw Lebanon into a war that is not its own. Hezbollah must renounce its weapons, respect the national interest, show that it is not a militia taking orders from abroad, and allow the Lebanese to come together to preserve their country.

@Salehlsl10 God bless and protect Kuwait. As a Christian Lebanese who lived there for 14 yrs, part of my family still lives there, we have nothing but love for Kuwait. It gave us so many opportunities, refuge during Lebanese civil war. They’ve welcomed us and we always felt at home.

“Mesmo sem entender, eu confio em ti…” 🙏🏾 Um dos piores dias da minha vida. Não sei se mereço isso… mas do que posso reclamar depois de tantas coisas maravilhosas que vivi. Estou fora do restante da temporada e da Copa do Mundo, um sonho que todos sabem o que significa pra mim. Me resta ser forte. Obrigado a todos pelas orações e pelo carinho. Prometo não parar por aqui, ainda tenho muito o que viver no futebol. Deus continua no controle de tudo. 🙏🏾🤍🇧🇷

@KevorkAlmassian Brigitte is losing it. I lived in Lebanon for 10 yrs and I can tell you that Muslims celebrate and enjoy Christmas festivities more than Christians and Christians are out celebrating Ramadan almost daily too. Our politicians however, are same as any country, corrupt!
