Last year reconciliation delivered huge America First wins under President Trump: tax cuts, no tax on tips/Social Security & border funding. It's our limited 51-vote tool—usually one per year. This year, amid a $200B Iran request, let's stay focused on the homeland: wall completion, mass deportations & working-family tax relief. What do you think we should we prioritize? The Dorchester and Berkeley County Republican Parties are thrilled to host this joint candidate forum. Our counties share many of the same unique challenges—rapid growth, infrastructure demands, and preserving our quality of life —yet we are often overshadowed in congressional races that also include the vibrant communities of Charleston and Beaufort. This event gives our members a key opportunity to ask the tough questions of potential candidates and to highlight the Republican Party's strong efforts on behalf of the Lowcountry. RSVP now at CD1Forum.com

Happy Sunshine Week, South Carolina Republicans! 🌞 Governor McMaster proclaimed this week that open, accountable government builds trust and strengthens democracy—timely words for transparency and good governance. Yet at Saturday’s SCGOP Executive Committee meeting, a straightforward motion that would provide more transparency on SCGOP's standing committees was defeated after limited debate. The proposal was simple: adopt an open-door policy for standing and special committees, allowing SCGOP Executive Committee members and county party chairs to attend as silent observers—with clear guardrails (professional conduct, advance notice, ability to close sensitive portions for personnel/legal matters, per Robert’s Rules). This isn’t about any one person or faction—it’s about process. This is a healthy and good business practice. Many county parties and the RNC already allow respectful silent observers at standing committee meetings. Why not the state party? Transparency with reasonable protections rebuilds trust, encourages real debate across the party, and ensures the SCGOP truly represents its members rather than operating behind closed doors. During Sunshine Week, the party has an opportunity to lead by example. If you value accountability, open discussion, and unity through better governance, reach out to your state executive committeeman and county chair. Let them know: support open-door policies with guardrails, restore meaningful debate on key issues, and help heal divisions by prioritizing transparency over secrecy. The motion will come up again—your input can make a difference. Should the SCGOP embrace more openness? Share your thoughts and let’s push for a more transparent united party! 🇺🇸 #SunshineWeek

Safe regulation with guardrails to keep these products out of the hands of children without putting thousands out of business is the answer.

Fully agree with this statement about @dnolan2000, congratulations man!
FITSNews@fitsnews

No doubt. @DNolan2000 is one of the brightest people we know and has one of the brightest futures of anyone in South Carolina politics ahead of him. His contributions to @FITSNews have been hugely impactful, and we are tremendously saddened to see him go. Wishing him the best!

Sometimes doing the right thing won't always be the politically popular thing for your career, but history will remember where you stood in a time of crisis. Joe Kent knows first hand the price of war. Much respect to Joe, I'm praying for him and his family today.
Joe Kent@joekent16jan19

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.
