I have more #buyastrangerabook action!
@dawnster21 has bought a copy of Hamza's Wild World by Hamza Yassin for me to give away to someone.
It's Hamza's brand new kids book and I've got SIGNED copies.
So, if you'd like it, get in touch!

@thosethatcan J’s school voted Reform too. He suspects it was mainly to be edgy or ‘for a laugh’, as opposed to attention to their policies. Very multicultural school.

School ‘mock’ elections for UK students. Did your school hold one, what were the outcomes and what are the implications? DMs open. #edutwitter

@jamesjohnson252 You are missing the important issue here. It's the audio that is being delivered that is the problem, and it is requiring people to enable subtitles.
It's a failing of the content creators.

Extremely deranged position to take
Polling USA@USA_Polling
Young people overwhelmingly support having subtitles on while watching a show

@AmandaPCraig @OwlBookshop I went in here for the first time last week. So, so good!
English

Yes! @OwlBookshop is brilliant, esp since its makeover.

Third stop: @OwlBookshop in Kentish Town! First time I've been here and it's absolutely brilliant?

@HelenRSalisbury @trishgreenhalgh Yes, indeed. My youngest turned 6 in December 2020 and fully understood why her grandparents waved at her through the window!

@cathiehewitt @MorgsEd Ours is similar but has an ‘effort’ column for each subject too. Some children are consistently achieving below the expected standard but work their socks off and we wanted to acknowledge it. Has really simplified things for teachers.
English

@MorgsEd I used to have one like this but now I think WTE and GD doesn’t make sense in foundation subjects. If a kid is WTE in geography, what does that mean? Do they know less geog? If so, do we just need to teach them the curriculum? What does GD in geog look like? Do they know extra …

We often overcomplicate reports.
Here is my one-page report format. It is slightly different for each year group. A template for every year group is available free to download.

@MorgsEd We are starting to do this for foundation subjects, but not for core.

@romalley73 @MichaelT1979 @RogersHistory We are a 2FE primary and have specialist teachers for PE (sports coach full time), Computing (2 days), Music (2 days), Spanish (2 days). So teachers get that time on top of one full afternoon PPA. Works really well for us, although hoping very tight budgets mean we don’t lose it.
English

@MichaelT1979 @RogersHistory Do you know if any primary settings where a secondary model has worked (or been tried)? E.g specialist art/computing/PE/ MFL full time staff that work across the school? I’ve often wondered if this would work to free up more Eng/Maths PPA

@MissC_1717 Bought all children a small wooden doll and sent home for half term. Response was phenomenal! Those who didn’t bring one back came at lunchtime and did it (was fewer than 10 children!) The yr before we did wooden spoons- we bought them, they decorated at home. Both great fun!

English

Has anyone got any lovely #WorldBookDay ideas that are not dressing up and that don’t involve using food? 👀 Last year we created mystery shoebox rooms for a book character. I’m considering buying wooden spoons in bulk to paint 👀😅 #EduTwitter

@matthew0connor Used to go to bed with hand-socks. You would take said hand-socks off once he was asleep. He would get up in the middle of the night and put on more hand-socks. And repeat. I remember because Margot went through the very same phase.
