@luxembutch @RomanovHater @eusoueualt Which of Marx’s works though? From what I’ve read, it does seem that base and superstructure is universal
English

@class_struggler @RomanovHater @eusoueualt much like most of marx’s theories, base-superstructure was not meant to be a universal framework that nothing fell outside, despite what MLism later codified as an “immortal science”
English

@class_struggler @luxembutch @eusoueualt Well Marx limits the superstructure to the legal and political forms arising from the means and relations of production, and discusses ideology as a separate phenomenon. Engels did not make this distinction, birthing the concept of the “ideological superstructure.”
English

@RomanovHater @luxembutch @eusoueualt I’ve never heard this before. Very interesting. What are you referring to though?
English

@class_struggler @luxembutch @eusoueualt The big one is that Engels did not understand Marx’s concept of the superstructure. This misunderstanding can be argued to carry over to the Maoist concept of cultural revolution, which rests on the same misunderstanding.
English

@RomanovHater @luxembutch @eusoueualt Could you give me an example of a vulgarisation that was more prevalent amongst Maoists?
English

@class_struggler @luxembutch @eusoueualt For me it’s largely a joke about Engels’ racism-adjacent takes and some of extremely subtle ways he vulgarized Marxism which became much more prevalent among the Maoist offshoots of Marxism-Leninism.
English

@class_struggler @RedSpectre5 are you talking about the pic? yes, I agree
English

Lenin considered Tsarist Russia, which was far more weaker and under-developed, to be imperialist, be for real now.

English

@class_struggler @jhal9000 I’d recommend you look into the work of Patrick Wolfe. He’s a bit more abstract and functionalist than the more conjunctural view I prefer but he lays out in broad terms what the distinction actually is
English

@luxembutch @eusoueualt Marx would never. Maoism is a much more natural progression for Engels.
English

@jhal9000 @BolshevikBeyond You’re the one claiming that the US has different property relations that Britain. Hic Rhodus Hic Salta
English

@class_struggler @BolshevikBeyond Burden of proof rests on the accusing party, i.e. the one that barged in and accused decolonial communists of being Nazis. I don't need to prove shit; you're the one that needs to elaborate, except you can't because your entire argument rests on invalid premises. Bye.
English

@jhal9000 @BolshevikBeyond I’m not arguing in bad faith. You’re the one who refuses to make a point.
What in my profile makes it seem like I’m bad faith
English

@class_struggler @BolshevikBeyond You're the one who barged in accusing OP of being a fascist due to arguing for landback. Given your profile I didn't want to assume you were acting in bad faith but I guess I was mistaken.
English

@jhal9000 @BolshevikBeyond You have failed to make a substantial point on how property relations are fundamentally different despite the same mode of production which is a tacit dismissal of Marx so shut the fuck up and sit down
English

@class_struggler @BolshevikBeyond Even the most cursory Wikipedia ass investigation into the characteristics of the two lakes will reveal that they have completely different chemistry & ecosystems. The same is true of capitalism. If you cannot understand a problem, do not lecture others on it.

English

@jhal9000 @BolshevikBeyond Either substantiate your point or don’t reply
English

@class_struggler @BolshevikBeyond Lake Baikal and the Dead Sea are both lakes. Would you say that means they're the same?
English

@jhal9000 @BolshevikBeyond Nope, they’re all capitalist property relations
English

@class_struggler @BolshevikBeyond That there are specific forms the capitalist property system uses in different countries. The relations are not the same in the US as they are in, say, Britain, despite one being a scion of the other, although they are similar.
English

@misebo2001 @RedSpectre5 Most idiotic point on imperialism ever
English

@RedSpectre5 Even though Russia has a little bit more solid (comparatively) productive base now, it has way less prospects than the Empire

@redf0undation @flackospalace Not class relations exactly. The proletariat abolishes itself so it’s before class antagonism has gone and other classes (like peasantry) have vanished
English

@flackospalace What do you mean “we don’t want to abolish the state immediately after the revolution”? The dictatorship of the proletariat isn’t a preserved state form. It’s a proletarian semi-state that exists only so long as class relations persist and is abolished alongside them
English

Communists don’t want “state capitalism”. We just don’t want to immediately abolish a state after a revolution because that makes us susceptible to a counterrevolution
(AV) 🏴@161StolenLand
This is unfortunately correct. Anarchist Communists want to actually get rid of the commodity form and money whereas most self described communists want state capitalism.
