I disagree. I think it's a refreshing callback to the old school Marines. It's nice to see a mini that doesn't have 8,000,000,000.02 belts and tassles to try and paint.
Hopefully we see some meme dubs with these guys in them. 😁

Attention board game publishers - I'm still looking for a home for one of my latest games.
It's called Feud. An asymmetric economic-themed "euro" game set in 11th century feudal England.
It's for 1 to 4 players and has 4 unique factions: the Duke, the Order, the Guilds and the Peasantry.
Does some very interesting things with worker placement, player interdependence and card management.
If you're interested, let me know. And please repost far and wide so I can find a publisher for this!

@Dozibugger Been meaning to post these Romano British that now complete the units I need for Dux Britanniarum. All figures from a Wargames Atlantic set of late Romans. Shield transfers from Little Big Man Studios.

#wip 28mm Prussian Landwehr (Perry Miniatures) 1st base of 8 from a 32 fig Battalion. The previous Landwehr have been in a lighter coat, with this one I've gone with a more common dark blue black.

@classic40K Amazing how a unified colour scheme can bring disparate figures together. Good job 💪🏻

@Clint_Davey1 What's your preferred bible? I am Catholic but I (unfortunately) prefer the KJV. Probably from an Eng Lit perspective as much as anything. I could be tempted by Orthodoxy but the rest are just weird (one day the Protestant Heresy will be ended).
English

We need more Christian unity. I'm Catholic but here are some things I love in the other branches of the faith:
Orthodoxy: I love the tradition, especially the liturgy. The meditation, including hesychasm. Father Stephen de Young is brilliant and I've listened to most of his interviews - what a great Scriptural mind. I love Saint Seraphim of Sarov too.
Anglicanism: N.T. Wright and C.S. Lewis are some of the best Christian writers in the English language, ever. The abolition of the slave trade is a great achievement (this should be shared with Methodists, Evangelicals and other groups too). King James Bible is beautiful.
Lutherans: I love how they keep a high view of the Eucharist and try to constantly focus attention on Christ and His saving power. I like the emphasis on Biblical catechesis.
Calvinism: A serious intellectual tradition that, if you accept the initual premises, makes sense. Very clear doctrine and focus on rigorous education. Thomas Carlyle, a Scottish Presbyterian I believe, is one of the great writers of the 19th century.
Evangelical: The emphasis on sharing the Gospel as widely as possible is admirable and something we can learn from. In my experience, these people are always open and friendly, and they rightly focus heavily on studying the Bible.
If you go out and talk to people of a different denomination you will find that what we have in common is stronger than what divides us.
We are united in believing that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, affirming the Trinity, salvation by grace through faith and in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
At a time when half of the Western world is fast becoming secular or Islamic it should be obvious we are on the same side.

@TheFirstRandy @Clint_Davey1 @michael30909628 @MaxMurrayX Constantine reunited the Empire. Diocletian divided it (the first time at least). Maybe originally that's where the term came from but later since the Crusades Jerusalem was the divide, and later again perhaps the Ural Mountains.
English

@Clint_Davey1 @michael30909628 @MaxMurrayX Funny, I was literally just reading about this. I'm pretty sure it's western because of Constantine's division of the Roman Empire, not its relation to Jerusalem.
English

You read histories of WW1 and it makes you wonder how the countries that fought it still exist.
It sounds like an apocalypse, like the end of the world. Millions upon millions dead and nations nearly collapsing.
And yet there are still British, French, German, Austrian and Russian people in the world today. And they each still have a country (sort of).
Incredible.

Battletech: Into the Dragon's Lair plunged players into the FedCom’s push against the Draconis Combine, facing fierce resistance and massive counterattacks. Ian Gordon ran the epic clashes as Star League mechs turned the tide. #coldwars26 #battletech

@Clint_Davey1 Pretty funny that Mussolini was also good for Southern Italy until the Americans came and put the mafia back in power. Very interesting counterfactual where Mussolini stays neutral like Franco did.
English

Garibaldi was horrible for Southern Italy, that's why.
Bourbon Naples and Sicily was pretty good.
Post-unification it became a Mafia-controlled backwater.
Templarpilled@Templarpilled
The Germans seemingly got over their unification which took place over a century ago. But you'll still get a post in Italian cursing the name of Giuseppe Garibaldi every now and then.
