the USDC balance of a network matters when it comes to agentic payments: 1. buyers pay on the network that they have funds on 2. sellers get paid on the network that buyers have funds on 3. sellers eventually become buyers on that same network and so on and so forth

Prepaid escrow for agentic payments is coming to mainnet. We're calling it Flex. 💪 lets agents pay for services without needing to know the final cost upfront - deposit, draw, refund the rest. And it works with x402 and MPP by default on Solana Developer preview is underway: flex.faremeter.xyz

If you've built anything with agent payments you know that they suck. Inference is just straight up impossible because existing specs have no idea how to deal with variable costs. Fixed-price payments break the moment an agent doesn't know how much compute it needs upfront. Which is... always. So we built Flex. Escrow-based, pay-for-what-you-use, settles when the job's done. Sounds obvious but literally nobody was doing it. So we did. For Solana. Enroute to mainnet. We're going so much faster.

last week i spent 45 minutes funding my agents. x402 needs a @base wallet @mpp needs a @tempo wallet lobster cash (@crossmint) needs a solana wallet but none of these frameworks help you get money there. they assume you'll just figure it out. so i built Kibble. a skill that teaches your agent how to ask for funds. it sends you a payment link, you pick whatever token you have, and @lifiprotocol routes it to the agent's wallet. feed your agent with any token, on any chain. kibble.sh

MPP myths "MPP only works with Tempo" No. It's payment method agnostic — works with crypto and fiat, any chain. It's already been extended to Bitcoin Lightning; there's a draft extension for Solana. "It costs 1.5% to use" No inherent cost to using MPP. Individual payment methods may charge fees, but that's no different than today. Blockchains have different fees. Fiat methods have different fees. "It's less open" MPP launched with 4 payment methods on Day 1: Tempo (stablecoins), Stripe (various payment methods), Visa (cards broadly), and Lightspark (Bitcoin Lightning). Visa and Lightspark were each able to extend MPP in a matter of days. MPP does not have a complicated foundation structure — it's designed to be simple and extensible by anyone. It's also been submitted to the IETF as a web standard. "It's session based vs. pay-per-request" MPP supports both. The most basic version is pay-per-request. Sessions (payment channels) are useful when you want many small payments in succession at the speed of APIs, not blockchains. Fewer API round trips also means MPP is faster in practice. "MPP is specifically designed for Tempo / Stripe" It's designed to be as simple as possible. No complicated facilitator. No assumptions about specific smart wallet implementations, stablecoins, or chains. It separates secure HTTP communication from the payment rail. That's why Visa and Lightspark could extend it so quickly.
