Ok, I’ll be the asshole. Someone needs to say it. Scholars are killing Splinterlands. For a long time I paid my scholars 15-20% of earnings to play. Now most scholars are demanding 50+% SPS earnings. And as a group they sell nearly all of it. They bring little money of their own into the game, compromise the integrity of the competitions (multi accounts), and skim profits away from the real investors, many who end up left in the red right now. The economy cannot sustain this.

The clearly defined part is the financial return mechanisms (core set and miniset). I don't think it should change much from how things are now besides the DAO taking on sales risk and reward.

Dear @AfterSoundMusic Firstly thanks for covering this and for your consistent outstanding content. You are the most prolific content creator for @splinterlands coverage and it’s not even close. Strongly disagree with your initial take on this @TheSPSDAO proposal however. Most people naturally ignore existential risk. We are being given an opportunity to essentially annihilate that risk at least for a few years with this proposal. In addition we are avoiding a need for an emergency card set or other means of forced funding from the team, potentially causing dilution or playerbase fatigue. @mccoy2016 has said one way or another he will make sure the Company survives, and this is the current best idea to accomplish that without cutting the team size and slowing development further or something else we will not want. People are focusing on the IP aspect of this deal which I couldn’t care less about, but I guess I’ll take it if it makes the proposal more palatable to stakeholders. Bottom line, without the Company in my opinion we are screwed, and the IP becomes worthless. This deal ensures funding and maintaining the current pace of development, which is good enough for me.
