"The idea of holding someone accountable needs some restoration. Accounting for harm is a practice and skill that must be developed and nurtured, and we must have processes that facilitate it. I have seen how restorative justice can do this.” -Travis Claybrooks, @RaphahInstitute

"Making this series, I wanted to remind people that everyone in this system is a human being. You can’t rush by the humanity. You can’t rush by and go right into policy. You have to plug into the humanity.” -Marshall Goldberg, producer of Justice, USA

@DCameronSmith @Tennessean @Jason_Aldean I didn’t say he was ignorant. I’m 🗣️ that u/@Jason_Aldean ignore the present/historical context of people’s protests - 👮‍♂️ murdering people n urban cities/small towns. Perhaps u don’t see that. I respect that. If u do but refuse 2 acknowledge it, then that’s hard 2 respect ☮️💙

@clayinhand @Tennessean @Jason_Aldean So he's ignorant because he doesn't handle an important issue the way you would? There are a lot of critical issues that simply can't be addressed in every song or column.

@DCameronSmith 🤎 the article n @Tennessean. 💯 correct. Yet uv ignored context. “Cuss out a cop, spit in his face” doesn’t happen n a vacuum. It happens n the context of 👮‍♂️👮‍♂️murdering people. @Jason_Aldean ignores the history of small town 👮‍♂️👮‍♂️murdering people.

@DCameronSmith @Tennessean @Jason_Aldean Yup. It should b front/center if u believe it’s a problem. The very specific context = police murdering people. Above all, police shouldn’t murder. When u ignore that context in writing about people protesting police murders, it’s irresponsible - especially on stage/n @Tennessean

@DCameronSmith @Tennessean @Jason_Aldean No. He shouldn’t write what I think. It’s his song. I’m only saying that both of you, in your writings, have ignored the present-day context of police murdering people in urban cities and the historical context of police murdering people in small towns.

@DCameronSmith @Tennessean @Jason_Aldean No, not suggesting that. N fact, I made no reference 2 the right 2 protest (red herring). I’m doing the exact opposite of putting words n2 his music by highlighting what’s not n his music. He completely ignores the ragged history of police murders n small towns/urban cities.
