a cool finding and excellent news if you kept all your sediment samples after doing lipid extractions 'just in case' you do something with them in the future

How much of Earth's organic carbon is buried in ocean sediments? And how much stays 'buried'? 🌊🌎🔨 Here we propose 'Transfer Efficiencies' as a metric to quantify the organic carbon sink in marine sediments 🧵1/n @NatureComms #openaccess nature.com/articles/s4146…

Another plug of (at least imo) a rather cool polar and cryosphere #PhDposition looking at past ice sheet change in Antarctica and NW Scotland. Please forward to anyone who might be interested iapetus2.ac.uk/studentships/t…

Principally, we found that the basin started accumulating organic sediment at ~14.3 ka BP, a two-part Younger Dryas was recorded, with finally a potentially delayed Holocene warming..but read the paper for the details!

Very excited to have published my first first-author paper in Journal of Quaternary Science, and the first from my PhD! Reconstructing a late-glacial sequence from the eastern Cairngorms using a high-resolution multi-proxy approach 👇 doi.org/10.1002/jqs.34…

Thesis hand in today. In all honesty I feel more underwhelmed and exhausted, than happy and elated. Nonetheless, I have (by some miracle) produced a Ph.D. thesis. Slange Var! 🎉🥂 Also... what did you all do to celebrate? Right now I want to be on a sunny beach with my family.

@clayseous @BECS_Biomarkers @M_Ali_Salik I’m also working on biomarkers and stable isotopes using GC-FID, GC-IRMS, HPLC, IRMS-EA to delineate paleoclimate and climate dynamics on IODP, core and outcrop samples from South China Sea, Colorado and Argentina. Great to see your tweet 😍

for the first time in my phd I have samples running on our GCFID, GCMS and GCIRMS in @BECS_Biomarkers, i think this is should be named 'the holy trinity of organic geochemistry', thanks @M_Ali_Salik for keeping the instruments running so slick!
