What a moment for space! With all eyes on the Artemis mission, it's hard not to feel the scale of what's possible right now. And how amazing technology is. And how amazing the human mind is. And how amazing our beautiful planet is. I have the privilege of working with @isaraerospace  , Europe's pre-eminent space company. Being on their rocket launch site in Norway, north of the Arctic Circle, gave me a perspective I won't soon forget. What I appreciate most is that this work continues regardless of where I or they are in the world. Recently, I joined ISAR's off-site leadership meeting remotely, delivering a keynote and facilitating a session with their team, a few weeks before their next launch! Different setting. Same mission. Supporting the people behind the mission. Ultimately, despite the crazy technology that can support all this, its still the humans who make extraordinary things happen.

The single biggest predictor of a leader’s success isn't their IQ or their track record. So what is it? I was recently asked this in an interview that focused on the maturity of leadership teams. I would choose open-mindedness. A leader who is open-minded will listen, learn, be coachable, and take on alternative viewpoints. They will be willing to try things and evolve.  When authority and humility come together, magic happens! The Litmus Test I look for specific traits right away: Are they open-minded enough to want to look deeply and do the inner work? Do they have high self-responsibility? Will they be open to trying things not in their current model of the world? Are they more interested in being right or in doing what's right? I often push people immediately from the start to see their reactions to potential new questions and suggestions to see how they respond. Why It Matters Now When a leader gets too stuck in their current identity, then the identity of the company also starts feeling stuck. Leaders that change will thrive. Companies that change will thrive. The world is changing and is about to go through even more dramatic change. Leaders that stick to what they know or what they’ve always done will struggle. We need leaders who are willing to consider anything, whether the suggestions are: Highly practical Highly emotional Highly spiritual in nature Highly crazy sometimes When a leader’s mind is really open, then their heart, soul, and intuition can also come into balance and be used to more effectively lead.  The Elite Coach's Playbook I am diving deeper into these leadership traits in my upcoming workshop for coaches. If you are ready to help leaders navigate these shifts, join me for The Elite Coach's Playbook, April 28. The link to register is in the comments below!

Coaching Q&A Wellbeing has become a central theme in business. But people can tell the difference between what’s real… and what’s performative. Question: How do you know if a company truly values wellbeing, or is just trying to keep up? Answer: First, look at the leadership team. Are they aligned with what they say matters? If you have a gym and no leaders ever go, it doesn’t signal much. I once spoke at a company where everyone knew the CEO went to the gym at 12pm daily. That sent a clear message. Health matters! The same is true in reverse. If leaders send emails on weekends and expect immediate responses, you are unconsciously telling people that rest is not truly respected. Leaders lead by example. If wellbeing and happiness matter, people will feel it. People are not naive. They know what is real and what is not. Second, look at the intention. Are wellbeing initiatives there to follow a trend? Are they a 'should'? To increase performance? Or because you genuinely care about your people? The “why” matters. Finally, who you are at work shows up at home. And who you are at home shows up at work. You cannot split people in two. The most meaningful approaches to well being recognize this, and support the realities of life beyond work: children, ageing parents, fertility, health, working from home. That is where real trust is built. I’m hosting a one-time live workshop in April for coaches, where I’ll share more of my tools and experiences. Comment or DM me if you’d like to join. #Leadership #Wellbeing #LeadershipDevelopment #Coaching #OrganizationalCulture

Likability may be your strongest talent attraction and retention strategy. Coaching Q&A: This week's question builds on the theme of likability. This applies to leaders and coaches.  Question: There is a lot of discussion about new styles of leadership: more horizontal, more human, more conscious. What really needs to change in the way leaders show up nowadays and what is in their blind spot? Answer: Yes, the new frontiers of leadership are thankfully, becoming more mainstream. I refer to 3 words which in some ways, are all different doors into the same room! Authenticity, Humanity and Likability. People are rapidly losing their patience and tolerance for leaders who are more hierarchically minded, more power and ego focused, more dominant and non inclusive. The world is asking for the more human side, and to feel that they can relate to their leaders. People are choosing to work with people they like and of course respect. I’ve seen top talent leave big jobs and pay packages just because of toxic leaders and environments. People are realizing that time is short and when they have the choice, they will work with people they want to spend time with, want to learn with, want to create something amazing with. They will invest in people they like. They will give their business to companies they like. Likability means there is not as much of a split as there used to be between professional and personal. Letting yourself be known, asking about peoples lives and what matters most to them (which is never work), caring, remembering what’s important about people. If I could summarize it as a blind spot, I would say, care more about your people than your business. They will then care more about your business and their work. If someone feels sincerely cared for, they will do more for you than they ever have. I get a lot of inquiries from coaches who are building their business. I am hosting for the first time ever, a LIVE online event end of April where I will share my playbook and my experience of doing this for more than 15 years. Please send me a message or comment below if you are interested in joining. #leadershipdevelopment #executivecoaching #leadershipmindset #coachingbusiness #consciousleadership

Coaching QA! If you are a coach or thinking about hiring a coach, this interview series is for you! Sharing this week's coaching question from my recent interview with @julien_tardy of UnoMe Swiss Speakers' Bureau. Julien: You work with many leaders and clients who are facing big changes, crises and challenges such as hyper growth, loss of meaning, cultural shifts and talent issues. What most blocks change: systems within the company, teams, people, or the leaders themselves? Ariane: I love this question. Often it comes back to our expectations about how life should be, how work should be, how money should be, how our health should be, or how our family life should be. When change happens, it clashes with the picture we had in mind for our lives. Suddenly we are divorced. We do not have kids. We or someone we love receives a health diagnosis. The business we built will not lead to the big successful exit we imagined. Someone close to us passes away. What often sits underneath these moments are beliefs that what is happening is bad or not what we wanted. So the first principle of navigating change or crisis is always to explore our beliefs. This is closely connected to us not being in touch with our truth, our gut or our intuition. Many of us build big lives based on what our minds told us success should look like and what we thought would make us happy. So when crises show up and our inner world and outer world are in conflict, it becomes even more visible. Change acts like a mirror for what is not aligned in our lives and how much we may be living “above the neck.” Change often forces us to come back into our heart and body and to feel again. Another block that applies to all humans is the brain itself. The brain is not wired for uncertainty or change. Any crisis can trigger what is often called the reptilian brain. This part of us chooses comfort, security and what is familiar. Our brains do not easily choose change. The neocortex does. The more we engage that part of the brain, the stronger those pathways become. Over time, change and crisis do not throw us off as much. I often call this the “change muscle.” The more we use it, the stronger it becomes and the more familiar change feels. If you are a coach and would like to explore these ideas more deeply, comment below or send me a message. I will soon be hosting a one-time workshop for coaches only. #ExecutiveCoaching #LeadershipDevelopment #LeadingThroughChange #CoachForLeaders #LeadershipMindset

If you’re in a leadership position and leading without a coach, you’re leaving performance and well-being on the table. @julien_tardy with UnoMe Swiss Speaker’s Bureau recently interviewed me on the real impact and value of getting a coach, I'll be sharing some of our Q & A over the next couple of weeks. Below is his first super valuable question! Question: Coaching is often considered a luxury for leaders or a business expense that gets cut when things get hard. At what moment in a company’s trajectory do you think it is crucial for leaders to get coaching? Answer: Yes. In business, executive coaching is still often considered a luxury or even a sign of weakness or that a leader has a problem. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you look at high level sports of any kind, all peak performance athletes have coaches, often more than one. Look at tennis, or more recently the Olympic athletes who have entire teams around them to ensure their highest chances of success. I consider leaders “business athletes,” and it is absolutely crazy that they are not supported by coaches. Think about it. Nike would never sponsor an athlete without a coach. Having a coach is a sign of talent and future promise. In business, we fund companies to the tune of millions of dollars, often given to founders and first time CEOs without any external help. I consider coaching a “business insurance” policy that you can take out to invest in and protect your investment. If I was still working in Venture Capital, it would be a requirement as part of any term sheet, that the founders get a coach. Non-negotiable. I believe leaders, right from the start, must take coaching seriously, long before it is “needed” or there is a crisis of some sort. It is much easier to pursue coaching when things are going well, so that when things change, you have a toolbox that is ready and familiar. Leaders who have coaches will be the first to tell you that coaching is far from comfortable. It is hard, direct, challenging and sometimes painful. Being confronted with your decisions or lack thereof, your regrets, your imposter syndrome, your intuition, your failures, your blind spots, your avoidance strategies, and often the price you have paid with your health or personal and family life is not comfortable. I think more people avoid coaching because they do not want to face this side, rather than the part that knows deep down it will truly help them grow. Grow at work. Grow at home. And grow, most importantly, as a human. If you are interested in coaching, or having me come speak to your leadership teams anywhere in the world, please be in touch. I receive a lot of messages here from coaches who are looking to grow their business. I will be leading a one off coaching workshop in April. Please let me know if you’d like to join. #Leadership #ExecutiveCoaching #CEO #LeadershipDevelopment #HighPerformance

Q: Your book, Spirit Mama, addresses a side of fertility that is often overlooked in traditional medical discussions. What was the catalyst for writing this book, and how did your own journey influence its creation? Ariane de Bonvoisin: I had my first child naturally and super easily, and then when we tried for a second, things didn’t go the way we hoped for. For years, I searched for experts, authors, doctors, healers, and other moms who might have a piece of the fertility puzzle. I did hundreds of interviews, and each had something amazing to say and add to the journey. I realize that it was my duty and my way of being of service to share all of this with other women and couples who may find something in this book that will bring them their child. There are many ways to be a mother, and creating this book was my second child! The book, therefore, focuses more on what is not yet in the mainstream, what people are doing in other countries, and what can help with the challenges people face nowadays with getting pregnant. The main theme throughout is this notion that fertility is not just about science or sex or controlling all the different variables. If that were the case, the fertility rate would be a lot higher than it is, so there must be something else going on. Something invisible. Something which points to energy, frequency, spirituality, God, the soul’s journey, Life itself. A better way of explaining it might be simply to use the word ‘consciousness’. Life starts when consciousness arrives, so it makes sense to finally start focusing on being more aligned with being conscious in all ways. That is why I called it ‘A More Conscious Journey Through Motherhood.” Read full interview entrepreneursbreak.com/spirit-mama-a-…
