24 May 1930. Hull-born Amy Johnson became the 1st woman to fly solo from England to Australia. Flying the G-AAAH Jason, she left Croydon Airport on 5 May and landed at Darwin, Northern Territory on 24 May having travelled 11,000 miles.

We found out today that my later mother in laws flat was next door to Sir Nicolas Winton's office in Prague. The place where the young English man masterminded the trains that saved hundreds of Jewish children's from the nazi in WW2 #ww2 #Prague #Praha #czechrepublic

@azsweetheart013 How’s Big Rose? She reminds me of our late dog, Baxter, who unfortunately died of cancer a few weeks ago. He sold me on Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Love that breed because of him. We miss him terribly. Hope Rose is ok.

I'm in Weimar where there are traces of the people I wrote about everywhere. This was Hedwig Hetemann's shop where she repaired toys for children. It was destroyed by the SA in the pogrom of 1938 because she was Jewish. Nobody helped her. She became withdrawn and isolated. 1/2
