If you were picking a book for year 12 to read as part of a wider reading book club, and you wanted something fairly recent but not too long, what would you pick? (These are keen but not very experienced readers. Something literary but not particularly difficult)

Survived my first half term as 2nd in English, a step up for me! And also survived teaching fully in secondary after 11 years in post-16 settings. It’s been utterly relentless since day 1, but I feel like I’m thriving in my career, & my life, like never before. Proud of myself💪🏼

My life summed up in 1 sentence:

Having a very fun time prepping some Lord Of The Flies themed treats for my Y11s tomorrow in honour of finishing the book! I can’t take credit for the idea as my HOD did it last week but it looked so much fun I had to jump on the bandwagon!

@Strickomaster C2 is removal from the room at my new school, which I find a good approach, I’ve only had to use it a handful of times so far

This is the singular reason I can’t quit this app

Some thoughts on the last few days, a 🧵. Firstly, when I tweeted about Oscar’s travels did I think it would be this controversial? Hell no! I was aware of @JonHaidt’s work on how risk averse we have become, but every year kids who have finished their GCSEs travel about the UK &

Got the usual “holiday guilt” after having a couple of lazy days, so am acknowledging what I’ve achieved so far this year: ✨Bought my 1st home on my own ✨Started my NPQ and got a promotion ✨Lost 4.5 stone (& still going!) So maybe it’s ok to be a bit unproductive this week!
