Because of my job, I sometimes get this pit in my stomach that things won't actually change until it's too late and I know many online don't like to speak about it because they know they'll see the ugliest parts of people they respected.
I spent my early 20's protesting, supplying med tents, & getting food to friends. I spent them loud and angry that not enough people seemed like they cared. Of all places, Twitter's the one this week that reminded me to be hopeful that more folks will stand up for their friends, neighbors, & others in their communities🙂
A lot of you are new to this and should be incredibly proud, but also understand not everyone wanting to 'debate' is actually there to talk about it. Learn who that is and where your energy is best spent instead of mentally exhausting yourself for people that thrive off of others just being miserable with them.
Use your anger & passion, just learn to use it productively
Also homemade rice krispie treats are great cheap snacks for sugar & packing in calories that can be kept warm/protected under coats & gear. You can even make them vegan & add other things like dried fruit, PB, chocolate, etc and make large batches to share with those around you. Of all the things I made, that was the most appreciated.
