@cmd094 I have nothing against vaporwave, but with that tag comes certain assumptions (of sample usage, originality and lets be honest, effort) that acts to illegitimise the form and its intent. Like no one is out there calling anyone signed to Warp or Burial 'Vaporwave'

It's pretty mad that in 2025 people are *still* refering to our releases as Vaporwave, despite having never released any VW or having any artists that consider themselves VW producers.

@PURELIFETAPES This doesn't mean that I don't like vaporwave, it's just that for me this genre involves slowing down and sampling other people's music, which I don't really welcome, although the sound can be quite interesting, I still position myself as a musician and composer.

@PURELIFETAPES For example I record ambient and other genres of electronic music, I've never created a vaporwave, lol

What a shit world where your worth as an artist is defined by metrics entirely corruptible by those with influence. Either employ a click farm, know some guy's fat dad who works frontend at Spotify or or pray to win the algorithm lottery. So so bleak.
