Bed-Stuy has the 2nd highest rat complaints citywide. Our office is making rat reduction a priority & last week we met with local yeshivas, @NYCSanitation, and @Unitedjewish to discuss trash containerization for schools so we can keep rats off our streets.

The Service Collective is bringing their weekly volunteer service program, Community Club, to North Brooklyn!  This weekly afterschool program is open to youth ages 10–14 who want to volunteer with local Brooklyn nonprofits.

Today, I spoke at the Economic Development budget hearing to raise concerns about the new SBS RFP, which risks undermining our industrial business service providers and the businesses they support across the city.

🚦We worked with @NYC_DOT to secure new traffic signals at Kent & S 5th St, Huron St & Manhattan Ave, and N 4th St & Kent Ave. These intersections have been a safety concern in our community and I'm glad to see steps being taken to make our streets safer.

Borough President @ReynosoBrooklyn is showing off his culinary skills today at a wonderful matzah-baking class in a Brooklyn yeshiva, joined by students, educators, NYPD community partners, local leaders, and clergy, in partnership with our @JCRCNY team.

After we released a report on illegal parking in Downtown Brooklyn & did a walkthrough w/ NYPD Chief of Transportation Obe, enforcement has increased. Last month @NYPD84Pct issued 1,317 tickets & towed 55 cars with placards, helping tackle illegal parking & make our streets safer

3rd Ave between State St and Schermerhorn St will be closed to traffic from Fri, March 13 at midnight through Mon March 16 at 4am for crane installation related to upcoming construction. The west sidewalk will remain open & flaggers will assist with traffic and pedestrian safety.

I visited the amazing team at PS 261 to visit the new dance room & check on progress of the four bathroom renovations our office funded. We also celebrated the removal of the temporary classroom unit from the schoolyard. This was the last school trailer in our Council district!

This morning I joined @nynurses at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, where nurses have been without health insurance for two months. Our nurses deserve better. @HealthNYGov must step up and protect the workers who care for New Yorkers every day.

New York City needs more space for pedestrians - especially in highly congested areas. My new legislation would require DOT to create 1M sq ft of pedestrian space annually around congested subway and bus stops to improve safety and so we aren’t stuck behind that slow walker.
