@250YearsAgoLive I grew up in a small town along the Ohio river just across from Kentucky called Portsmouth. Back then before whites took over, it was known as Shawneetown, and is where the Indians crossed into Ohio with the girls before Boone and his party rescued them.

Daniel Boone’s daughter Jemima and two other girls are captured outside Boonesborough by a Cherokee Indian war party led by Hanging Maw. The party carries the girls north toward Ohio and Boone puts together a posse to pursue the Indians.

@Aahhhhchooo @250YearsAgoLive They were both, Shawnee and Cherokee. They formed a confederation against the whites back then to get them out of Ohio and Kentucky. It worked pretty well for a while.

The northern states may have outlawed slavery before the southern states, but many states in the north didn't want free slaves living in their states and enacted laws to prevent them from moving there. "Before the Civil War, a half dozen of the Northern states that had prohibited slavery also enacted laws similar to the slave codes and the later Black Codes: Connecticut, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and New York enacted laws to discourage free Blacks from residing in those states."

A Fayetteville, NC area school teacher just filmed herself in bed ranting that America is broken in 2026 because “we never punished the South.” She claims the Confederacy “won,” is raising generations who deny “white privilege” while believing in an invisible God, and that harsher consequences after the Civil War would have fixed everything. Reality: The South was devastated. Over 620,000 Americans dead — mostly on Southern soil. Cities burned. Railroads and farms destroyed. Military occupation during Reconstruction. Three Constitutional amendments forced through to abolish slavery and secure rights. This isn’t history. It’s grievance fan fiction demanding collective, multi-generational punishment of an entire region for 1861 decisions. And it’s coming from someone shaping young minds. Lincoln called for “malice toward none, with charity for all.” This is the opposite — and it’s being sold as education. If teachers are pushing ancestral regional hatred instead of truth and unity, the real problem isn’t insufficient punishment in 1865. It’s the refusal to teach accurate history and move forward as one nation. Parents, pay attention.

I grew up on east coast blue crab then moved to the SF bay area with my family when I was 17. I've had great seafood from all over the world, but dungeness crab is my absolute favorite. I don't eat that fucking butter like Anthony did, but the rest of it is like gold. They're also very easy to catch and cook.

Bourdain said San Francisco was his favourite food eating city in America. Liked the Asian spots and old school steakhouses. The mix of low and high end options. But especially liked fresh seafood: Swan Oyster Depot was his go-to for smashing oysters and crab head juice.

This abandoned house might be one of the weirdest I’ve ever seen — and the whole thing revolves around an indoor pool complete with sand. It was clearly designed to feel like a beach… inside the house. The layout is very strange: to get to the kids’ bedrooms, you have to walk through the pool area. There’s shag carpet on the floors and walls, a beetle car bed, a couple of jacuzzi type tubs in at least two of the kids' rooms, and an entire room packed with ceramic making items. It’s giving full 1970s fever dream. Would you ever want to live in a house built around an indoor pool like this?

He retired at 56 even with a huge pension hit because his dad died at 59 and his grandfather died at 61. He has two toddlers. Hard to call that a bad financial decision when the entire point of money is buying back time
