The latest issue of *ReOrient* explores the study of the Qur’an as deeply connected to the conceptual questions & theoretical tools of Humanities. It highlights new paths to scholarship that are both philologically rich and theoretically productive.

On Eid, one of the most important days in the Muslim calendar, access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem has been restricted by Israeli authorities, with many Palestinians prevented from entering and forced to pray outside. Reports also indicate restrictions affecting Christian worshippers, including access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Old City. Emerging reports this morning say Israeli forces confronted worshippers outside the Old City, with tear gas reportedly used against those gathered for prayer. These developments raise concerns that heightened security measures are further restricting freedom of worship and movement for Palestinians. I raised the situation at Al-Aqsa in Parliament yesterday, highlighting ongoing concerns about restrictions even following the ceasefire. The Israeli government should uphold international law, ensure freedom of worship, and engage in meaningful diplomacy to support a just and lasting peace.

Tens of thousands of mosques are destroyed, Qur’ans are confiscated and burned, and Islam itself is criminalized. Millions endure enslavement, genocide, and the systematic destruction of their faith, identity, and homeland. We call upon Muslims and all people of conscience to remember the people of East Turkistan in your prayers. Let your prayers and actions hasten the liberation of our people and homeland, the end of colonization and genocide, and the restoration of independence, justice, and dignity to our nation. We call upon leaders and governments of the Muslim world to act decisively. Prayer must be matched by action. Condemnation must be followed by accountability. Economic or political interests must never come at the cost of our people’s blood, faith, and dignity. Silence is betrayal of fundamental Islamic values. Appeasement is complicity. To the people of East Turkistan, both in our occupied homeland and those in exile, remain steadfast. You are not erased.
