#OnThisDay 8 years ago, the first passenger train passed through Canal Tunnels, linking St Pancras Low Level with the East Coast mainline. This link fulfilled the same function as the Hotel and York Road Tunnels, closed 42 years before. Ivor the driver buff.ly/4189mya

@JulianDutton1 Presumably shot in London as that’s a picture of the Thames with the old St.Paul’s Cathedral in the background. We used to have a biscuit tin in the 60’s with that scene on it.

Benny Hill, Terry-Thomas & Hancock. Can anyone date this blighter? Deduction screams 1965, when all three were starring in Magnificent Men. But Hancock looks more his robust & 1950s self, as indeed do the others. My soul yearns for answers.

@thehurmanator @GotNotGot Quite a week that was wasn’t it. Special train laid on up to Altringham. Did what we thought was the hard bit by drawing 1-1 only to get stuffed at home the following week. All with a defeat by Hungerford Town in the Berkshire and Bucks Cup on the BH Monday in between 😞

@GotNotGot The one, the only, Loakes Park. Sadly taken on a bad day for Wycombe Wanderers in April 1982, losing 3-0 to Altrincham in the second leg of their F.A. Trophy semi-final, and missing out on a trip to Wembley.

@AFC_Fazeel A long time ago…Asa Hartford was meant to join Leeds from WBA but failed a medical. Didn’t stop him playing on for WBA and later signing for Man City.

Memory match 💭 Back to September 2021 for our only previous meeting with Hassocks, where goals from @kaffs0 and @tundeslife gave us a 2-1 win the the FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round. After further wins at Clapton and Milton Utd, we exited on penalties at the 3rd Round at Glebe.
