College coaching is tough! The intensity bears down on you - there is no punching the clock - and the expectations you place on yourself far exceed those of others. But in the end, I always arrive at the same conclusion; It is an INCREDIBLE & awesome privilege to be a coach!

College coaching is not for the meek or faint hearted. It’s not a deal where you “try it out” for a while / see if you like it. It is an all or nothing commitment! Gotta be born for it, love being “in the battle” with your players, &; 👉EMBRACE THE DOG EAT DOG MINDSET NEEDED!

The highs and lows of coaching are undeniable ⬆️⬇️. Even so, you can’t be a “fair weather coach.” Can’t love your job when you win the title🏆. And loath it when you lose a few. Regardless of the circumstance, GOTTA BRING THE SAME PASSION, ENERGY AND COMMITMENT —— ALWAYS!

Incredible win ⁦@TheRunninRebels⁩! WOW! An historic program making noise on the national scene - again! My dad and I watched the 1990 Runnin’ Rebels defeat LMU in the NCAA West Regionals. We were enamored. They represented PASSION, GUTS, GLORY. STILL DO AND ALWAYS WILL!🔴🙌

TAKING A CHARGE is a gutsy move and a momentum differentiator! It is the ultimate display of selflessness and toughness! When players sacrifice their body for the good of the team, they are also sending a huge message to the opponent; 👉THERE ARE NO FREE LAY UPS IN BASKETBALL!

The month of February is THE TRUE TEST for everyone in the game of basketball! You are either; 🏀 dragging your feet, getting distracted, losing your zest, OR... 🏀 bringing the same passion, energy and commitment as you did in October! 👉 GOTTA FIND MORE GAS IN YOUR TANK!

At a certain point in sports (and life) you will figure out what you’re made of, DEEP DOWN INSIDE. Others will too. If you fit THE PROFILE - you’ll be in good shape. ✔️tough ✔️never quits ✔️battles fatigue ✔️able to withstand suffering ✔️PUSHES TO THE BREAKING POINT!

Thinking about the exceptional coaches (every sport) who have 30yrs invested. And it strikes me; “Being a success” in coaching isn’t defined by a meteoric ☄️rise, but a gradual CLIMB. THE SHOOTING STAR is bright but fizzles. THE FIXTURE IN THE SKY is brilliant & everlasting!

This time of the year always reminds me why I love recruiting and going to HS games. I get to see talented ballers — YES! But more so, I am overwhelmed by the passion, commitment & enthusiasm of high school coaches.👏 BEING A HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL COACH IS AN HONORABLE THING!
