#CoachesCorner The Honors was a memorable afternoon celebrating excellence! Our player cards have already become an award athletes look forward to receiving but we knew it was time to raise our standard. This year, our First Team selections and Players of the Year were presented with the first-ever Coaches Corner Varsity Player Jackets something special to represent the work, dedication, and impact they’ve shown all season. The Honors was amazing and truly celebrated WNY Basketball. Excellence from start to finish. From the players to the coaches, the families to the supporters this was bigger than an event. It was a moment for our basketball community to come together and recognize the work, the passion, and the dedication that goes into this game. The energy in the room was special. The love shown, the stories shared, and the recognition given, it all meant something. What started as an idea has grown into something real, and it’s only getting bigger. Long post alert! Today was a lot… in the best way possible. We just wrapped up our first ever Honors event, and I’m still trying to process it all. Packed house, real love in the room, and people truly showed up to celebrate. That means more to me than I can even put into words. What started as just an idea on my personal Facebook page three years ago turned into something I never could’ve fully imagined. To see it grow into this… it’s humbling. God is good. Youth basketball has always been my passion, my first love. To be able to create something that gives these kids moments, memories, and recognition they’ll carry with them… that’s everything to me. And to have people believe in the vision, support it, and enjoy it the way y’all did today… it’s overwhelming in the best way. The love today was real. From parents, coaches, players, and supporters… it was felt every second. Shoutout to my guys Coach Ques and Coach Stevie. Y’all caught me completely off guard today. I appreciate that more than you know. That meant a lot. And to everyone who came out just to support me personally, whether you’re part of the basketball scene or not… thank you. That doesn’t go unnoticed. Y’all don’t see the long nights, the stress, the thoughts, the behind-the-scenes grind… but moments like today make all of it worth it. Seeing the kids dressed up, suits, ties, blazers, really stepping into excellence… that’s what this is about. That’s what made today special. Year one is officially in the books… and I’m already thinking about year two. This is just the beginning. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket, showed up, reached out, and supported in any way. Location The Foundry Suites 1738 Elmwood Ave Buffalo, New York Doors open at 1:30 PM Program begins at 2:00 PM Be sure to arrive early, get settled, and take in the full experience. #CoachesCorner Long post alert from Coach/Parent Perspective. AAU season is back and I have such a love/hate relationship with it. 11-year-olds who turn 12 during the season still in 11U. 13-year-olds playing 12U. Let’s clear this up: 👉 If your child turns 12 before the cutoff date (usually July 31 / August 1), they should be playing 12U — not 11U and so forth and so on. That’s how most tournaments are structured. Not opinion… just facts. Parents do your own research. Don’t just go off what someone tells you. Don’t even take my word for it please look it up yourself. Because right now, there’s a lot of misinformation when I speak with parents. Some people will do anything to win a $20 trophy. Now the bigger issue. Its wayyyyyyy to many teams and should really get back to house league during this time for most. We’re losing development. Kids play AAU for years, then get to high school and still can’t really play. I come from a development first background with house league basketball and too often AAU is more about wins and hype than actual growth. Another thing: High school basketball is grade-based, NOT age-based. Freshman → 15U Sophomore → 16U Junior → 17U If you’re a junior, you should be playing 17U — regardless of age.Too many kids playing down because they’re “young for their grade.” That’s not how it works. And please hear this because if I hear a parent or another coach say this imma scream. 🚨 JUCO YEARS COUNT. If you go JUCO, those years count toward your eligibility. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise please.
