
Welcome Nick Alexander @coachquicknick to Atascocita High School as the new Assistant Track and Field and Assistant Cross Country Coach. I'm excited to have his college experience added to our program. Nick(olas) Alexander is a former sprinter for the University of Houston Cougars. He primarily competed in the 60 m, 100 m, and 200 m events during his collegiate career under coaches Leroy Burrell and Carl Lewis. 🏃♂️ Highlights & Bio •Early Life & Recruitment Grew up in Garland, Texas, and ran at Sachse High School, where he set the school record in the 200 m (20.98 s). He was recruited to UH as part of an elite sprinting group known as “H‑Town Speed City” . •Collegiate Career •2017–18 (Freshman): Debuted with a 6.89 s in the 60 m indoors and placed 22nd in the 200 m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning All‑American Honorable Mention with a PB of around 20.84 s . •2019–20 (Junior): Won indoor 60 m races (e.g., Leonard Hilton Invitational) and medaled (bronze) in the 200 m at the American Athletic Conference Championships . •2021 (Senior): Named American Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after posting a PR of 6.71 s in the 60 m at H‑Town SpeedCity Series I, ranking eighth nationally at the time . •Personal Bests (per TFRRS stats): •60 m indoors: 6.70 s •100 m outdoors: 10.30 s •200 m outdoors: 20.78 s •Beyond Track: Active in community service and mentorship.
