What is a repetition? We use the word repetition constantly, but how we define it shapes what athletes are actually preparing for. Traditional view: A rep is a pre-planned movement repeated to look the same every time. Success = identical execution. Variability is error. Great for building physical capabilities in stable environments. But sport isn’t stable. Nontraditional view: A rep is a unique interaction with the environment. Each one is a problem to solve, shaped by space, time, opponents, & constraints. Variability isn’t noise, it’s information. Reps aren’t copies. They’re learning opportunities. Train for movement perfection, & athletes perform when conditions are only perfect. Train for movement bandwidth, & athletes adapt when the game changes. theuofstrength.com/articles/what-…

I received a cool shipment while on vacation @dr_jump_uk. Excited to dive into this.

Technique isn’t separate from decision-making — it enables it. Players who can control the ball under pressure see more, think quicker, and execute better. High-level decisions start with high-level technique. ⚽ #FootballCoaching #PlayerDevelopment #BallMastery #SoccerCoaching #CoachingPhilosophy #YouthFootball
