@_ToddBeane Since 2018 and my first trip to Sitges I think I mite have seen a handful coaches try to teach what to look for. Every club I worked for since 2018 wanted me to make the kids dribble around cones (I’m on club #4 since then and I wonder why😉).

I was never coached what to look for when by any coach I had from 10-32 years old. I fear that even now young players are not taught the details of scanning, perhaps one of the most determinant factors for success. #TOVO Training

One of my 2015 girl was, not sure what’s the right word to use but a bit rude and didn’t participating in the game. I spoke to her mom today because I thought she was disrespectful etc (long story) Then after talking to the mom. We think, She is SO scared to make mistakes.

The goal of practice isn’t muscle memory and making everything automatic. The real goal of practice is adaptability: making skills so diverse they fit the moment.

They are working out their own tactics. How to beat the other team while the SF sky is on fire.

Young athletes do not learn through exposure to your coaching ideas. They learn from practicing ideas in context. And from returning to those ideas repeatedly to reinforce them in context. Train accordingly. #TOVO

@CoachDavidBaird @UnitedCoaches I have a new team G2013 and we did Finding Nemo. When you score you try to find Nemo under one of the cones on the sideline. That is 2 pts. You also have Dory, if you get her you loose the point because she can’t remember she scored. They loved it! The G2015 loves it too.

What’s going on with the youth soccer here in NorCal? The behavior of both coaches and parents are so bad. Today I saw parents and a coach surrounding a referee after a game. Parents shouting and sideline coach like crazy. Kids crying if they don’t get to play where they want🤷‍♀️

The beauty of constraining to afford is that it encourages self-discovery. Athletes learn to solve problems on their own, without being told exactly what to do.

@Mr_Tennis_Coach I think so many coaches are so afraid to adapt to the players need.

A session plan shouldn’t be a script to follow blindly, it’s a guide. It ensures the session stays on track while allowing flexibility to adapt based on what the players need.
