A joint patrol in the mangrove @ecosystem by the COBEC team, Kenya Forest Service, Community Forest Association, and community scouts is vital for sustainable management by preventing illegal activities like tree cutting and charcoal burning and Protecting marine biodiversity.

COBEC's one-and-a-half-year-old mangrove plantation signifies a critical stage of recovery and resilience within the mangrove ecosystem. At this age, the young mangroves have established strong root systems that stabilize the soil, reduce erosion, and enhance tidal water flow.

COBEC, in partnership with Coastal and Marine Resources Development (COMRED), recently organized a #BMU Peer-to-Peer Exchange Visit under the project “Secure Coastal Communities and Seascapes through Collaborative Stewardship”, funded by Ocean Community Empowerment and Nature.
