When you hear "Tech" What comes to your mind? For some, it’s innovation Opportunity A dream job at a big company But for many others It feels like a giant maze — Overwhelming courses Buzzwords everywhere Bootcamps that cost more than rent And somehow… you still feel stuck.

The idea that communities are “B.S” misses a fundamental truth about how enduring products and companies grow, also how people grow with them. Products don’t thrive in isolation, they grow within ecosystems of people who believe, advocate, contribute, and iterate. That ecosystem is called a community. Communities aren’t just hype squads or social add-ons. They are critical infrastructure for products and people. Products need communities to gain traction, gather feedback, build trust, and scale. But it even goes deeper than that. Communities serve as onboarding grounds, especially in fast-moving or complex ecosystems like Web3. For someone new to the space, community is often the first point of contact, the place where they ask questions, get guidance, observe culture, and learn how things work. It’s where they’re welcomed, supported, and mentored. No one grows in isolation. But it doesn’t stop at onboarding. Many of the most impactful figures in the space didn’t start as founders, they started as community members. Through consistent participation, learning, and connection with like-minded people, they grew into contributors, leaders, and eventually, builders of their own products / companies. Community is not just where growth happens, it’s often where it begins. And sure, there are successful companies that don’t center community anymore. But most of them did in their early stages. Early adopters, contributors, and fans are what carried them through fragile beginnings. Even the most product-focused giants leaned heavily on developer forums, user groups, or cultural movements. Community isn’t fluff; it’s infrastructure. Products need people, and organized people, rallied by shared purpose, are community. True, it’s time communities evolve. They shouldn’t be dependent on handouts, grants, or token drops. Sustainable communities should build their own value, culture, and economic systems. But that doesn’t mean we abandon the idea of community, it means we mature it. The real conversation isn’t “build companies, not communities.” It’s: stop treating community as a side hustle or afterthought. Start building with it from day one, and give it the structure to stand on its own. Community isn’t the opposite of company. It’s the multiplier. S/O to amazing communities like @web3ladies by @koderHoli, @web3afrika by @olanetsoft, @womenindefi_org by @thesarahidahosa, @baseafricaa by myself and @kokocodes, @SheCodeAfrica by @Kolokodess, #LetsTouchBase by @RachelOnchain and many others leading the charge. 🫳🖊️

Community is B.S Yes ! Community is for creators e.g @CryptoDefiLord who have built a fan base and large number of followers loyal to their brand. If you’re building a web 3 community without thinking of sustainability in the long run, you will end up in a rate race ✍️
