All things being equal, I would still prefer a cork over a screwcap, simply for the pleasure of uncorking the wine. Wine is not orange juice or milk. As a gateway to the sacred, it demands ritual.

@martindredmond The Stelvin screw cap used at Co Dinn Cellars lets in about half the oxygen of a good natural cork. The wine ages in a 750 ml bottle more like a magnum (1500 ml) but is much more consistent bottle to bottle.

Could be caused by a flaw in the cork or badly adjusted/maintained corker jaws which can crease or groove the cork upon insertion. It seems to have not leaked badly.
