As for your spreadsheet analogy, physical is still profitable, unlike VR, anyone who bothers to do any surface level research can uncover that.
But digital only will greatly increase profits (assuming consumers will accept the shift). This is just about making more money, it has literally nothing to do with how viable the market is right now or will be in the future.
The problem with this approach is that basically PlayStation will simply dictate whatever price they want and you won’t have a physical market to lean back on when you can’t afford it.
They can also just revoke your digital license at any time (like they did with the 500 movies) which they can’t really do with a physical copy.
But more egregiously, several countries will straight up be cut off from the PlayStation ecosystem because PSN doesn’t operate everywhere in the world, this is something we widely reported on during the Helldivers 2 Steam drama.
And let’s not even talk about backwards compatibility which was the main reason why most of us even got a PS5 to begin with, our MASSIVE ps4 physical collection.
Whatever bro, let’s talk about VR, that’s the relevant discussion, or try to make us out to be illogical when Sony just wants more money and control while making everything worse for most of it’s existing playerbase.

Would I love more VR titles funded by Sony? Of course. But I also see the dire state of the VR industry. Even Meta seems to be giving up on it. So do I expect Sony to keep funding more VR? The answer is no. This is a fallacy many consumers make: "More choice is good, therefore company must give choice." No they don't, not if the extra choice doesn't make sense to them financially. You can love physical discs, while simultaneously having the adult awareness to look at a spreadsheet and go, "Yeah, I get why they're wrapping this up." I turned my back on the disc crowd very quickly after I saw the childish inability to separate emotion from logic. It's like trying to reason with a child crying about why the local Toys R Us shut down. "But dad, I want the choice to keep going to this store!" That's great kiddo, I believe you. But now what?

I much preferred this over the first game, felt like the gameplay had a lot more depth and the world was perfectly sized too.
Had to put the difficulty down for that boss fight though, felt impossible to parry 😆.

🏆 Platinum 6 - The Last of Us One of the best story driven games ever, still feels just as emotional and great to play as it did back on the PS3 days. Highly recommend playing on a harder difficulty though Looking forward to doing another playthrough of part 2 in the future
