I am grateful to the public servants across the state who are working around the clock to prepare North Carolina for this winter storm and keep us all safe.

Law enforcement officers have answered the call to serve and put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe, a challenging and difficult job that is too often under appreciated. On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, let us show our appreciation with support and the resources they need to protect us and keep our communities safe.

This morning in Mint Hill, two law enforcement officers were shot on duty and are now in critical condition. My prayers are with them and their families for their full recovery. Our officers run toward danger every day to keep us all safe. We must do all we can to support them.

Heartbreaking news out of Statesville. Beyond his success as a NASCAR driver, Greg Biffle lived a life of courage and compassion and stepped up for western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene. My heart goes out to all those who lost a loved one in this tragic crash.

NTSB is launching a go team to investigate the fatal crash of a Cessna Citation C550 jet in Statesville, North Carolina. The team expects to arrive on scene tonight and Member Michael Graham will be spokesperson on scene. NTSB will hold a media briefing tomorrow, time and location will be shared on this account once finalized.

The early morning vehicle crash at Gaston and Airline was fatal and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. A woman in her mid 50's was killed while trying to cross Gaston shortly after 7 am this morning.
