@edmontonjournal Not true. The motion calls for an independent panel to take the majority report of the Commission and integrate the recommendation of Justice Dallas Miller in his addendum to the majority report. UCP is just following the judge's advice. NDP wants to ignore that advice.

Simple question why doesn’t the UCP just send the report back to the exact same commission to produce another map this time with 91 seats. Why do they need a commission made up of majority UCP MLA’s suddenly? Also seems like the UCP waisted taxpayer money on the first go round. Everyone knew 89 seats was not enough considering the population boom.

I received a call from Prime Minister Mark Carney of Canada, this evening. I thanked him for Canada’s endorsement of Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating the U.S.–Iran ceasefire and talks. I reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to advancing regional peace and stability. We also agreed to strengthen Pakistan–Canada cooperation especially in trade and investment in agriculture, clean energy, mines and minerals. I also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Carney to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at a mutually convenient time. @MarkJCarney

Alberta NDP 👀 +6 in Calgary. +15 in Edmonton. That’s why Danielle Smith and the UCP want to gerrymander the province. They know they’re cooked in the next election if they can’t win in the cities. Turns out stealing money from disabled Albertans, defunding education, private health care, and corruption aren’t popular. When you can’t win on your record, you try to rig the map.

Do I think Danielle Smith and the UCP will try to gerrymander Alberta? Yeah, I do. That’s how you know they think their government is in trouble. Privatizing healthcare, underfunding education, shady Tylenol contracts… not exactly popular policies.

I think some Albertans need a serious reality check. The Alberta NDP is not the federal NDP, and it should not be expected to follow federal leadership. And the idea that supporting hundreds of thousands of oil and gas jobs makes them “less progressive” is honestly absurd. If that is your reason for not supporting them, then you are effectively saying you are okay with Danielle Smith continuing to attack the queer community, undermine disability supports, privatize healthcare, and dismantle public education. Because that is the choice in front of us. We cannot help anyone in this province if the UCP wins again. And let’s be honest, a platform built around shutting down oil and gas development is not winning an election here next year. Maybe one day the politics shift, but we are not there yet. Real progress means actually winning and making people’s lives better, not just feeling right online. #abpoli
