Microglia (🧠immune cells) are reduced in late preg & early postpartum. ⁦@neurokaty⁩ & ⁦@LeunerLab⁩ find that reducing microglia in non-pregnant F rats facilitates maternal beh & alters activity in the amygdala & frontal cortex- nice work! nature.com/articles/s4138…

Potential implications for thinking about clinical approaches to cognitive rehabilitation in TBI populations.

Cog rehab increased OFC activity during a reversal learning task in TBI animals. Moreover, we were able to extend this rehab paradigm to an impulsivity test and show benefits that persisted after discontinuation!

My lab has a new preprint out collaborating with @Dhakshin3 to link neural reward-feedback deficits after TBI with behavioral outcomes. We were then able to correct this behavior with a "cognitive rehabilitation" intervention. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
