@lucasaganronald I think it's more about the history and reputation of cycling. Having awarded Armstrong in the past, the org just won't trust any other cyclist with that award. They will only nominate to show they aren't biased, but will ultimately award tennis, soccer, golf, & motorsport stars.

OFFICIAL: Carlos Alcaraz has beaten Tadej Pogačar at the Laureus Sportsman of the Year 2025 award. 🥲 But for me in the end, it’s not even that surprising. If I talk to people outside cycling, especially those who only follow bigger sports like football, most don’t even know who Tadej Pogačar is. A pretty clear example is that I follow about 460 people on Instagram, and only five of them follow him there and even those are just friends who ride gravel, one MotoGP rider, and the Finnish president. For someone so dominant, he just never seems to break out of the cycling bubble. Whether it’s the sport itself or that he is not extremely active on social media, he rarely reaches a wider audience.

@ShamsCharania So if he thought that the first time, why'd they intentionally foul him again on the next possession?

NBA statement: "The NBA has completed an investigation of the Sacramento Kings and Head Coach Doug Christie's decision to foul intentionally late in the team's game against the Golden State Warriors on April 7. The league's investigation determined that Christie mistakenly believed that the Warriors were not in the penalty and therefore instructed his team to foul in an attempt to stop the clock and utilize one of the team's remaining timeouts. The investigation found that Christie made no intentional effort to give the Warriors a shooting foul, or to cause the Kings to lose the game."

The NBA is looking into what multiple sources say was a strategy mistake by Kings coach Doug Christie on an intentional foul of Seth Curry while leading the Warriors with over 3 minutes left in Tuesday's game:

If anything, I’m 100% convinced Seixas is stronger than Pogi was at the same age. Whether that’s good or bad for the future, time will tell. #StradeBianche

@lucasaganronald It's pretty simple. One is that the history of cycling is stacked against any modern great. Special performers are always gonna attract skeptics. Two is the country of origin. If he was British or French or American, he'd definitely have greater recognition or acclaim.

Why is Tadej Pogačar constantly not winning the award for the best sportsman in the world despite being the one? This might be a little controversial topic or what I say to it, but people are questioning it why is it like that, so here is what I think. The biggest answer to that is that Tadej Pogačar does very little, or maybe even nothing, to escape the cycling bubble. He totally dominates in races like Flanders and the Tour de France, which is crazy. But what do other people who are just following cycling see very little of? In their eyes, he just wins races and that’s all. They don’t understand how extraordinary and how good in the history of cycling what he does is. But mainly what do people who are not watching cycling at all notice about Pogi? Basically nothing, they don’t even know he exists. And there is the "problem" why he is not winning these awards. He doesn’t make some crazy statements, he does not do some crazy reels or TikToks, he don’t have a YouTube channel, he does not post anything extraordinary for people outside of cycling on Instagram, he does not do that social media influencing, or mainly what I think the reason is that he does not speak about some topics outside of cycling that would get into every media not only the sports one. Like yesterday when UAE wished Merry Christmas while some European countries didn’t mention it or just wished happy holidays. Pogi could’ve said something to get to the not only sports media with that, but he didn’t. BUT it is absolutely okay in my view. Firstly if he were to do something like that, it wouldn’t be the same person, the same Pogi and secondly, the title of the best sportsman of the year and that trophy would feel nice, but it is absolutely not that important for him to trade for the much bigger fame he would get with doing something like that. I feel like for his ideal world he is already more famous than he would like to be. And the second reason is that cycling as a sport is also not able to break the bubble. I constantly feel like people don’t get how hard cycling as a sport is, how crazy it is to ride 200 km in a day and they do this for 21 days straight etc. We had that Netflix show yeah, but it is not enough. So here are the reasons that I see, but you can let me know your opinion on all of that in the comments down below. Thanks for reading. 📷: jbautissier

@KenyaKahigi @nixonkelly553 @georgediano Definitely hard to understand the full speech without the context. But for this clip, he says "People who claim that must try a bit more. Even though I live with Bukusus, don't I still speak Tiriki? So young guys who've recently come to Nairobi pretend not to be able to speak..."

@lucasaganronald The dark history/reputation of cycling directly works against him. The selectors are more likely to trust the results of a Motorsport rider/driver, golfer, or tennis player than that of a cyclist, even one as generational as him. It's just how it is.

This guy won the Tour de France, became the World Champ, first rider ever to do back-to-back double, podiumed every single monument so far… still not enough for the Laureus Sportsman of the year 2025 award. Last Olympic year it went to Duplantis, this year it should finally go to Pogačar in my opinion. What do you think? 📷: Filip Bezděk #Kigali2025

Why Remco abandoned, info by @javajane and Steve Porino Remco‘s DS‘s are saying that because of his December 2024 crash he missed a lot of his winter training which is the base for him staying consistent through the race season and unfortunately without that base his performance has fluctuated too much this race season and he just doesn’t have the fitness. #TDF2025 📷: maxpetitphoto
