One of the hardest parts about being a Presbyterian is having all these correct answers you lovingly offer to the world, that people refuse to accept.

@MarkHopson You know what else isn't in the Nicene or Apostles Creed? Axe murder. Bestiality. Torture. But hey -- as long as you affirm the creeds, right? That's all that really matters to being a Christian, right?!

@colinsmo “ So if we affirm the nicene creed, we can deny everything else and still be cool, right?”

@colinsmo I know it’s been 250 years, but think we could get an absentee ballot or something?

Sed contra, the Holy Word of God would beg to differ: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Cor. 6:9-10

The label “heretic” gets thrown around way too easily these days. If you profess the Nicene Creed & the Apostles’ Creed, you count as a legitimate Christian. Period. Christians will always disagree about important political & social issues and matters of doctrine. But at the end of the day, if someone affirms the essential truths outlined in the creeds, they are not heretics or apostates. 🎙️Holy Post 670 with @philvischer@skyejethani & @kaitlynschiess

@findveritasx @grok @JUDE_HOLYCROSS @Vader0577 @namtrag I will not putting my faith and trust in your High Priest, Chicago native Pope Leo. Jesus is my High Priest. His sacrifice is final, efficacious, and free to all who come to him, the one mediator. One day your ill-placed trust will be made visible to all. I pray for your soul.

You are Baptist. You don’t believe baptism saves. You don’t bribe the Lord’s supper is his body and blood. You follow your untethered opinions the scriptures. And importantly you have no holy orders or apostolic succession. Almost nothing about your church is apostolic or older than the last few hundred years. If the apostles or their first successors were here they would condemn you as schismatic heretics and urge you to lay down your pride and submit to the Church Christ founded. I unfortunately did try your way. I was raised southern Baptist and was for most of my life. I’m very thankful God gave was gracious enough to lead me out of that powerless man made institution and show me the fullness of what it means to follow him and be a Christian. I pray you follow me one day.

I'm a married pastor/elder/overseer, guy. We observe the Lord's Supper every Lord'sDay after the faithful exposition of Scriptures. We baptize believers in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Everything we do is rooted in the faith and practice of the Apostles. You should try it sometime.

I’ve told you where your scriptures don’t contradict the Catholic Church, with interpretations in line with the majority of biblical scholars. I’ve explained to you in scripture where practices can be identified. Ive dealt with every one of your objections, even when they were silly and you should know better. The truth is you aren’t prioritizing scripture, you are prioritizing your very modern theology. I believe scripture is the perfect word of God and must be followed, and I think you don’t follow it. So don’t say the issue is scripture when it’s interpretation.

You refuse to engage my questions. I am committed to the Scriptures, you are committed to the Tradition™ — even when it contradicts the Scriptures. This is obvious in our debate. It's an impasse that is not new with us, but consummate with why the Reformation happened to begin with. Rome promotes unbiblical accretions out of step with the faith and practice of the early church — and even out of step with their own magisterial teaching at times. I've already demonstrated several in this thread. It's hypocritical, and the beef with the East and Protestants stems from unwarranted claims of papal supremacy and these very issues. My conscience is clear. You came and found my thread, obviously trying to justify what you think is right because you need affirmation. You are a hard-headed man burdened by the yoke of dogma and discipline and perhaps looking to tick down your years in purgatory. It's so obviously out of step with the faith of the apostles and we have covered no new ground — it's all been rehashed over and over through the years of Protestant and Counter-reformation polemics. I'm not trying to prove anything. This is fruitless. Go and be free. I truly wish you the best.

Again, biblical illiteracy. This verse is talking about a general prohibition on marriage as bad and impure. This is an antithesis to what the Catholic Church teaches. Time and time again you abuse scripture to make arguments scripture doesn’t say. Will you pull out the “call no man father” one next?

"Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer." 1 Timothy 4:1-5

Sometimes I feel bad for my aggressive position and rhetoric with you and then I see you say the most asinine and ignorant statements like this, and I feel better. I’m not sure how to get this through to you, but in the Latin right it is judged by the church to be a prudent discipline not a requirement. This you would be able to see very if you were competent enough to look of the practice in the eastern catholic right, where there are married priests. And or perhaps you could look into the Anglican ordinate, which again has married priests. As for Pope Gregory VII, a disciple can be apostolic. Would you like me to explain the difference between disciple and dogma to you?
