The label “heretic” gets thrown around way too easily these days. If you profess the Nicene Creed & the Apostles’ Creed, you count as a legitimate Christian. Period. Christians will always disagree about important political & social issues and matters of doctrine. But at the end of the day, if someone affirms the essential truths outlined in the creeds, they are not heretics or apostates. 🎙️Holy Post 670 with @philvischer, @skyejethani & @kaitlynschiess

Here’s the ultimate irony of this unbiblical approach: They reject the judgments of the first ecumenical decision of the Jerusalem Council in Acts 15, which clearly instructs every believer by the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit to abstain from sexual immorality. Period.

I can’t say that my first lent has been great so far. I’m mostly keeping to my fasts, but I’ve not been praying or living out love as much as I should. I find myself worried I’m not worthy or ready to be confirmed on Easter; I still struggle with so much serious sin. But I realize the most important and best thing I can do to pursue holiness is to join the Church fully. Seeing my imperfections and sin is all the more reason to run to confirmation, to find the sacraments and graces God has given us. The safest place for a sinner to be is in the Catholic Church.
