@CinemaTweets1 It beat No Country imo because they adapted it from the Cormac McCarthy novel whereas Miller's Crossing is a much more original piece, albeit inspired by a Dashiell Hammet short story, if I recall.

Miller’s Crossing is a perfect film. I know No Country for Old Men is considered the Coen Brothers’ magnum opus. But Miller’s Crossing is so good, it makes you question everything you know about cinema. For most directors, this would be their best film.
