@BucketsKash @zorko03 @HipHopNumbers The storytelling is one of the best aspects of the album. And the variety in content/style keeps it interesting. Why would you want less?

@zorko03 @HipHopNumbers The Fall Off is a good album but that’s bout it. And I’ve been a Cole fan since FNL. I think it could’ve been great great with a little less heavy focus on story telling. A bit more variety in song type would’ve helped for me.

@LONGLIVE47 I’m pretty sure he said this at the 2014 FHD 10 year anniversary concert, but yh

@YaZeezy @ScorpiFro @ComplexMusic The songs on Disc 29 are mainly linear and unfold in real time. The songs on Disc 39 are more self-contained and told from a reflective perspective. It’s an interesting parallel.

@ScorpiFro @ComplexMusic Does every song continue the story like linearly? Might have to listen again. Like what the main story he’s telling

@mfdoomstan1 Bro I’ve been saying this! considering the the rollout he’s had for TFO. I think this would be a great addition.

@mfdoomstan1 You didn’t even mention of blue. One of best rap songs that came out in 2025.

Just relistened to God Does Like Ugly
This is a really great album. I’d say he went 12/15. And that 12 is all really great songs. The best songs on this album are probably JID’s best songs of all time. But I don’t think it’s as consistent as The Forever Story, and is definitely weighed down by that middle section. Wholeheartedly is incredible but I don’t really fw the other melodic tracks.
I like to see JID exploring that side more because his singing voice is amazing and songs like Kody Blu 31 are just unbelievable. But I don’t think the melodic cuts here come anywhere close to that level of songwriting.
The rapping is obviously incredible, but it doesn’t have the mindblowing new flow switches that Forever Story has. Amazing rhyme schemes, delivery and flows still tho. I love JID’s writing on Glory, Community and K-Word in particular. He is a fantastic songwriter, which 1000% separates him from other rippity-rappity rappers. He’s one of the best alive on this album
Overall this album is great and further proves JID’s insane talent, but I don’t think it’s a step forward from The Forever Story in any way other than variety. I hope his next album can be a bit more focused
