Does your game "taste" determine success? Been thinking that some devs make funner games just because they enjoy games that kids enjoy too. And it isn't something that you can easily change . #RobloxDev

@SurferRBLX Aren't you agreeing with him though? In the end you tied it back to long-term monetization.

I don’t like seeing posts like this going into development with the sole goal of making a lot of money isn’t the right approach, and shows the lack of experience. You need to approach development with the player’s experience as the priority, so you can deliver an enjoyable product that keeps players coming back and willing to spend money on it. If your game isn’t enjoyable, it’s unlikely to achieve long term success or build a loyal, returning player base.
Crypticinvest@Crypticinvest1

The ultimate goal of making a roblox game isn’t to provide the player with a good experience, it’s rather to make a lot of money. Any top 10,000 game will always have a form of monetization. This is the reality of roblox development.

Roblox Devs will make an overly grindy game with a boring loop and call it a passion project then complain that Roblox doesn't support creative or hard-working developers. My biggest advice is to focus on the core gameplay loop and if it's not fun, the rest of the game isn't.

@UziWasTaken @Crypticinvest1 The rhetoric that "roblox devs dumb lol" will always be popular to the non-dev majority Jandel's career did not start at GAG, he made & contributed to huge games like Frontlines.

I don’t see how “smart” Roblox devs fit into the ecosystem. The game you’re expected to build is dumbed down to: click button → get reward → repeat There’s no depth, no real systems, no need for actual thinking. The devs capable of more either leave… or force themselves to build worse games.

Gamedev tip: 1. You're tired or burned out 2. Take a break 3. Exactly 3 seconds later new game idea comes to mind 4. "I'd love to work on it" 5. Realise you have free will 6. Start working on that new idea 7. Get it done in a week 8. Come back to the other game well rested 9. "Oh yeah I wanted to take a break, well, I'm not tired anymore so I'll keep working" It's all in your head people. Anyway I got like 5 games coming up (Yes I know step 7 sounds crazy but I believe in you)

I'm not a scripter, but I hire them a lot and I believe AI is best used by a scripter. Honestly, all this "replacing" talk is more like this: the output of a smaller, central team of scripters has increased with AI, so all that bloat is being reduced now. This doesn't hurt Roblox devs, it actually helps smaller teams. As a producer, it's important to allocate every job to a person so you're more focused on actually leading. So I still think scripting has a very valid place. I would never want to use AI myself and be my own scripter. Hope that helps!

real talk: if this roblox shit doesnt work out idk what I'm going to do with my life dude. I've spent so long learning code and building skills. Seeing AI progress every single day and consuming that social media really takes a toll on your mental health. How do you guys feel about all the shit going on in the world today

It's not about how much CCU a game has at this instant. It's about how much CCU a game can have and maintain over the long-term (months, years). That, to me, is the real indication of game quality.

A big mistake people make doing commissions❌: They pick a price they aren’t happy with to avoid rejection. Afterward, they work with little optimism or efficiency. Any serious dev prefers higher costs over a slow, time-waster. #RobloxDev

Most Roblox/Fortnite games lose Timmy before they even start. This is Timmy. Timmy doesn’t read descriptions. He doesn’t sit through tutorials. He’s just an iPad kid that screams TUNG TUNG TUNG SAHUR every 12 seconds. He sees a thumbnail. Clicks. That’s it. If your game requires explanation, you’ve already lost him. The games that win Timmy over are obvious and simple game loops: Steal the Brainrot Grow a Garden 99 Nights in the Forest Fish It If Timmy doesn’t understand your game in 5 seconds, you lose a lot more people like Timmy. Are your games Timmy friendly?

@AMGlormies I think it just kept some of it's OG market share And with more players joining Roblox, it grew as a result. Same thing with BSS & MM2

HOT TAKE: Game design is all it takes to make a hit game. You can have the best developers on the market BUT.. If you can't retain players. Your game will fail. Also, show more
