When looking at non-invasive imaging options—intestinal ultrasound (IUS) can show short term dynamic changes in a hospitalized patient w/in just 2 days. Easy exam at bedside for patients. Such a win for us as hospitalizations are SO taxing on us. #CCCongress25 @CrohnsColitisFn

Sad to see Conversations with @NASAGoddard profiles disappear" ~2x/month since 2011. Just because of "diverse"? “a collection of Q-and-A profiles that highlight the breadth and depth of the talented and diverse workforce of all campuses of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.”

Quick update about kiddo #1’s progress using @MentavaInc , as I know a few people were interested in learning more about it. As a reminder, a month ago she could decipher letters, but she could hardly read anything apart from a few words, e.g. her own name, names of some of her favorite characters or school friends, “papa”, “maman”, very simple things. Since then, she’s learned how to blend some letters to form various sounds. She still struggles with some consonants combinations, but overall she’s made awesome progress in a fairly short time. As a reminder, she’s still under five, so we’re not expecting her to become an independent reader anytime soon. But clearly, her progress is noticeable in such a short time, as well as her new found curiosity and her interest in deciphering words she sees on food packaging, road signs, posters, clothes, logos, newspapers, menus, etc. Here are a few screenshots showing the kind of words she can now decipher mostly independently. She still needs help with “th” and makes occasional mistakes, especially with “sh” and “ch”, but overall she gets the vast majority of short words right without any help. She’s gone beyond the original “CVC” pattern she was learning at the beginning, and she’s not showing any signs of slowing down. Regarding the time it represents, it’s about 20-25mn per day, every day since the beginning of October. She’s done just over 700 short learning activities by now and she’s just reached level 27, passing a new level nearly every day. While she still has a long way to go before she can confidently read by herself, I think it’s safe to say the results have exceeded our expectations so far. The most interesting thing is that apart from one day when she hit a roadblock and was a bit discouraged, she’s been consistently willing to do her daily activities, without showing signs of getting bored or finding it too repetitive. She’s also clearly not finding it addictive, which was another thing we wanted to monitor. With screen time in general, she tends to ask for more whenever we say it’s time to stop, but here it’s not happening, and we haven’t had to deal with tantrums or anything like that. I will give a more detailed review in a week or so but as it’s been nearly a month since we started, we can already see clear signs that she’s really learning something, and that what she’s learning is sticking beyond the context of activities she’s doing on the app. If you have any questions, feel free to ask of course.

@DarbyBaileyXO @NielsHoven @LexendFonts @RachelVT42 @MentavaInc Looks like you're using the variable font version of Lexand. Either Amazon or the tool you used to layout the book design is possibly not properly handling the overlap. Adobe InDesign had some bugs with variable fonts for a while. You could also try the non-var. fonts instead.
