I'll forever respect an acquaintance that I hadn't seen in over 15 years. We crossed paths at a mall and she greeted, smiled, & walked past me! I was shocked for a few seconds but respected the fact that she knew we no longer had anything in common. I intend to do this one day!

We really need to decolonise hairdressing. Especially in Africa. Because why does the USA and UK, Offer better services for afro hair, Than salons in Zimbabwe, South Africa or Botswana? Southern African hair salons, In my experience, Don't have the expertise to handle natural hair. If it's not braids that are too tight, It's them pressuring you to relax your hair, Or combing afros with tail combs... It's a lot! I am tired of fighting with hairdressers not to braid my hairline, Not to blow dry hair without heat protectant spray, And to apply leave in conditioner before braiding. What are they teaching in hair salons if afro hair care is only offered at specialised hair salons and costs and arm and a leg? Have not been to the salon in months and won't be going back anytime soon. But sometimes a girl just wants to outsource hair care. Kenya's hair salons are better. Most i went to use wide tooth combs and their blowers have an afro attachment. I still had to go with my own heat protectant but deep conditioning and leave in conditioning were common and priced normally. We must decolonise hair care in Africa, And make natural afro hair care the standard in Africa. I should be able to walk into a salon in Gwanda and have my afro steamed, Scalp exfoliated, Get a deep treatment and walk out with finger coils. But nah! Rant over.

A new statue of liberation hero Joshua Nkomo has been installed in Maphisa, Matabeleland South, ahead of tomorrow’s Zimbabwe Independence Day celebrations, as Zimbabwe marks 46 years of independence. The main national celebrations will be held there. I wonder how much it cost to build this statue.
