@lunkurniawan @pathofexile it gives the pob team the info to update to latest tree so yes, when the pob team finishes updating it.

@Diablo I have the base game on battle.net but I want to get it on steam, I'm not gonna buy the whole game again though, I will buy the new expansion if I can transfer my purchase to steam, any way that's possible?

@TalkativeTri @roansome Weren't they adamant about keeping a strict schedule, and would rather cut content and push it to a later patch then delaying releases?

Amazon Is Abandoning One Of Its Biggest Games, But Not Before The Devs Got To Say Goodbye kotaku.com/new-world-aete…

New World will be shutting down. It had some of the best tree chopping I've seen and parts of the environment were pretty impressive. This is exactly why SKG / legislation is necessary, throwing all this in the trash with no EOL plan is pure negligence.

Amazon is walking away from making new content from its MMO, New World, amid huge layoffs affecting 14,000 roles at the company. Now, there is concern over the status of its The Lord of the Rings MMO. bit.ly/4odq1uv

New World should not have to die.
The cost to run MMO servers can be dramatically lower than older methods which required expensive hardware. OG WoW was database bound (needed huge Oracle vertical solutions), but modern solutions running on nvme storage, can handle it now, much more cheaply. If the code for New World is written in the old style, it would have to change, but changing the DB layer should be doable.
The game servers themselves should also not be a problem. Cloud hosted boxes might not have enough CPUs per box be cost effective, but you can always have your own dedicated server in a datacenter at cheaper cost.
The other cost of MMOs is customer support. CS is a huge cost center for MMOs but doesn't have to be. It can run a lot leaner now and I think this is a good application for AI services.
StopKillingGames means we should provide for a way for New World to continue, as there are still 35,000 concurrent players. They should license the servers and player data to others and allow the game to live on.

@jfowagain @Grummz That must be a bug, as they've stated the game can still be bought.
