This isn’t iconic. I only know one the guy with the white shirt and lying piece of shit the deliberately sabotage Tesla on his show. Top Gear’s 2008 Tesla Roadster review was a despicable, premeditated assault on Tesla, crafted to obliterate the company’s reputation and choke the electric vehicle (EV) revolution before it could take root. The show brazenly lied, staging a fraudulent scene of the Roadster being pushed into a hangar as if it had broken down, while peddling egregious falsehoods like a 16-hour recharge time (when it was actually 3.5 hours) and a laughable 55-mile range under rigged track conditions. Tesla’s bombshell revelation of a pre-test script outlining the car’s failure—corroborated by former host Chris Harris’s admission that * Top Gear deliberately reverse-engineered outcomes—exposes this as cold-blooded sabotage. When confronted, #TopGear cowered behind the deceitful “entertainment” defense, claiming their audience knew not to take their lies seriously, a flimsy excuse that allowed them to spew fiction without consequence. Shamefully, the courts swallowed this farce, with Justice Tugendhat ruling in 2011 that no reasonable viewer would take Top Gear’s distortions as fact, dismissing Tesla’s libel and malicious falsehood claims in a grotesque miscarriage of justice. By 2013, the Court of Appeal further entrenched this travesty, rejecting Tesla’s case without acknowledging the quantifiable harm. This cowardly judicial cop-out emboldened Top Gear’s treachery, letting them smear Tesla’s name and undermine the #BEV movement with their vicious, petrol-worshipping lies, all while hiding behind the smirking veneer of “entertainment.”
