Couple of notes I took on the new episode of Hauler Talk addressing the uproar over the SBJ story where the idea of using the O'Reilly Series as a platform for CUV bodies (NOT EVs) was discussed. >Long story short, nothing is imminent and it's more contingency planning for future scenarios (i.e. 5-10 years from now), which is part of John Probst's job, with respect to the production car landscape. It was brought up how CUVs are the hot thing right now and sedans have fallen off on the market. "That's just something that we need to be ready for, in case there are no sedans in 10 years," said @mforde >The EV NASCAR developed was cited as an example of this type of planning, as they started developing it with respect to market/consumer interest in EVs about five years ago. Obviously interest/demand for EVs has fallen off, but NASCAR now has the technology ready "if we need to" >Forde recognized the negative reaction online to the Probst quote that took off and made a point that NASCAR will listen to fans and will take that into account. NASCAR hasn't done any Fan Council surveys on this matter yet "and I don't know if we will or not" >It was also brought up how good the O'Reilly Series is doing from a ratings/racing product standpoint. "If that's something that's not broke, we don't want to fix it." That said, NASCAR will be ready if they need to "fix" things with respect to external problems or pressures. >tl;dr: It's just an idea at this point and the O'Reilly Series isn't changing any time soon. "It's not coming next year, or the year after, or the year after that. If it does come - and it might not - it'd probably would be another five or more years down the road."

John Probst says CUV could give @NASCAROReillyAP clearer identity: "If you look at the brand identity of those three, the O'Reilly Series struggles a little bit just from the car perspective and you see it a lot because we refer to it often as whoever the entitlement sponsor is."

.@NASCAR EVP John Probst is helping plan the future of stock car racing into the 2030s, including evaluating the potential of one day using its crossover utility vehicle EV in the O’Reilly Series as well as experimenting with a hydrogen combustion engine. sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2026/…

Dear Nashville: This North Carolina-based driver would really like to run up credit-card debt on the backs of local taxpayers and bring the “Hooter’s Pro Cup” to our publicly owned fairgrounds. #NuffSaid
