I’m not sure who ordered it, but placing people under house arrest for planning to attend a protest at Ramlila Maidan is really a bad idea. It's true that the court has already put a stay on the UGC matter, so the issue should have been considered settled for now (at least until the govt attempts to implement it again). Even then, if some people still want to organize a peaceful protest, they should be allowed to do so. It is their democratic right. In fact, such actions only end up keeping the issue alive for a longer time.
