European Conservation Genetics Meeting

We’re excited to announce the 5th European Conservation Genetics Meeting, #ConsGen22, will take place in #Edinburgh on the 30th August - 1st September 2022 and will be hosted by @EdinburghUni, @rzss and @thebotanics. Save the date and RT to spread the word.

We can't believe that #ConsGen22 is almost over. Just time to give out student and ECR, poster and talk awards! An incredibly high standard of presentations making the choices for every category incredibly difficult. Well done to everyone!

Following on we have the incredible Laura Bertola from @UCPH_Research discussing harnessing genomic resources for lion conservation 🐾 She will look at: 🌍 Prioritising populations 📋 Informing decisions for translocations 🧬 Genetic diversity in captive breeding

Day 3 is off to a roaring start with our speaker Robert Ekblom from @naturvardsverk! He will discuss the genetic population monitoring of Scandinavian large carnivores and how policy, management and research can all work together for wildlife conservation ♻️

Please join us in welcoming Mrinilini Watsa from @sandiegozoo to the #ConsGen22 stage 💚 In her talk, we will look at the In-Situ Laboratory Initiative which aims to create a decentralised biomonitoring and disease screening network in south eastern Peru.

We're kicking off this morning's sessions with Magda Bou Dagher Kharrat from @efimedfacility and @USJLiban! She will be talking about plant conservation and what we can all learn from the East Mediterranean experience for ecosystem restoration programs around the world 🍃
