@AkshayManwani Yeah man, I am assuming that "Chennai" doesn't have a Bengal monitor lizard hehe. I didn't add "Water" due to lack of space.

@contentbirder This is a water monitor lizard, Christy. They are different from the Bengal monitor lizard, which are smaller in size. I recently photographed the water monitor in Sunderbans. Interestingly, I saw them on trees and on land. Will post some pics here and tag you.

@amabirdman Aww that's sweet! I used to be a jumper too - especially around male paradise flycatchers. Ippolamm due to aging (ungracefully), I've anyway started making weird noises without my knowledge. So, may as well add yelping to my repertoire. :D

@contentbirder I get delighted to see when someone gets something that they have been waiting to get for a long time. Your post gave me so much happiness! BTW, I too would have jumped. I used to jump every time I saw a Paradise flycatcher, till I started seeing one regularly :P

@rampsphotos Yep. I've been going there for years. My last spotting of this lizard was 6 years ago in Karikilli. Seeing a couple of monitor lizards sounds odd, though. Perhaps, you're thinking of oriental garden lizards. These ones are literally as large as the dog.
