Civil society is raising serious concerns about the NaRRA Bill currently before Parliament. 28 organisations and individuals have flagged major gaps in transparency, accountability, and public participation. We are calling for meaningful engagement: ✔️ A genuine multi-stakeholder dialogue ✔️ Acceptance of written submissions within 2 weeks ✔️ Structured discussions to address key concerns If this does not happen, a time-bound Joint Select Committee is needed. Yes, Jamaica must act quickly to rebuild after Hurricane Melissa — but speed cannot come at the expense of good governance, environmental protection, and public trust. This legislation will shape our future. It must be done right.

@MalahooForteMP we see you, we appreciate you, Jamaica applaud you for standing up for her in Parliament. Jamaica would be a better place if we had more of you in Parliament. The moral courage you showed yesterday is very rare in our parliament. Well done my blueblood sister!

🔘 DEVELOPING: Brace for major fuel price increases Energy Minister Daryl Vaz is warning Jamaicans to brace for what could be significant fuel price increases amid the instability in the global petroleum industry because of the war in the Middle East. Speaking at this morning's post-Cabinet press briefing, Vaz announced that, effective today, Jamaica's sole oil refinery, Petrojam, will implement a new tiered pricing mechanism. 👨💻 As part of the fuel conservation strategy, the government will consider "COVID-type" measures including work from home arrangements. ⛽ In the past four weeks, Petrojam absorbed $1.3 billion in oil price hikes that were not passed on to consumers. 💵 If the price pressures persist up to June 2026, it would cost the government $11.8 billion to absorb the increases.
