i'm on the tube. it's midday. it's pretty full. a middle aged man with an arm in a sling gets on at a stop along with an elderly couple. he tells the seated people to get up to let the old people sit. "you don't need a seat" he says to no one in particular. "sitting makes you fat" he says he comes up to me, i'm standing, and at this point i can smell he's drunk. he tells me the people that don't offer their seat to the elderly are lazy wankers. i don't say anything even tho i agree with him. i just look at him and give him a nod this is enough for him to start chatting to me. we both have earphones in and it takes a bit of back and forth before i eventually take mine off. he's doing most of the talking he asks if i do martial arts. i say yes. he tells me he does kickboxing but loves boxing. his favourite boxer is mike tyson. he doesn't care what he thinks or what he looks like. he inspired him to fight. youngest heavyweight champion ever. 20 years old. no one will ever do that again he starts doing uppercuts right next to me. i take my hands out of my pockets. i keep my eyes on him "how old are you" he asks. i tell him. i find out he's 46. "my father loved ali. i'm not a fan of ali. not my generation. tyson is my man" he's been talking to himself more than me and even he senses this. he's drunk but not that drunk "you don't want to talk to me do you" he says. i don't but i tell him i do. it's good to lie sometimes. i mention it's rude to talk so loudly on the tube "i don't care. if anyone interrupts i'll slap the head off them." he starts ranting about fighting "when two people fight, it's life or death. they are not messing about. there is intent to kill. mike tyson does what he does to kill in the ring" i tell him there are no rules in the ring. there's no running. i'm holding strong eye contact now. he nods slowly. he asks what i train. i tell him the truth he goes quiet. looks me up and down. he's sizing me up. i can take him. my God i don't want to but you gotta do what you gotta do. i mentally prepare. i relax his phone rings. i notice he uses his arm in the sling to answer it. he mouths sorry, it's work. he talks loudly on the phone. i look around. no one seems to notice us. when he hangs up something shifts "i'm not chatting you up btw but i like chatting to you" with that one line the killer intent dies

i got most of my info from @linusvanpedro! he recommended aliexpress or this website teaware.house for tea equipment if you want the basics, you'll need a gaiwan, tea cups, a pitcher, and a tea tray. i spent the most time looking at tea cups lol! i got 4 and wanted each one to represent a season but that quickly went out the window since i couldn't find the right colours and the tea cups come in different sizes! the tea pets are optional. i got two since i didn't want one to be lonely...

just spent a few hours researching gongfu tea. i then spent £200+ on a tea set, tea, and a fancy kettle. yes i'm that guy. i've been thinking about this for a year but i don't usually splurge out like this. it was tea or a switch 2. i made the right choice. i'm chinamaxxing

@cookiecarver @bryancsk It’s not necessarily leftovers, it’s just things that aren’t big enough for a meal but when put together they become ‘picky bits’

Apparently the British make charcuterie boards but with leftovers and call them "picky bits" it's very endearing.

Started doing zhan zhuang (aka that qigong thing where you just stand) more seriously (10 minutes daily) and it's incredible how it finds bad posture habits, weak muscles, tense muscles, and slowly irons out all of that.

@cookiecarver Maybe some standing, walk around pressing the back of their hands to see if they are stable and relaxed ^-^ (I personally love making seniors do basics he he)

i get to be the substitute tai chi teacher for my tai chi senior tomorrow. last time i subbed for her was 6 months ago. i feel like a whole new teacher now! what wacky stuff should i try with them??
